Education

Education isn't how much you have committed to memory, or even how much you know. It's  being able to differentiate between what you do know and what you don't."

Education is the main medium on which depends the progress of intellect of an individual as well as a nation. This is the education which gets an individual out of ignorant…(ignorance is “what you don’t know”) and guide him to the right path…………the path of wisdom (wisdom is what “you do know”).

Education is the only source of progress of constructive attitude in human being. Education gives us knowledge of ‘rules and regulations’ of political, social, cultural  without which a nation is nothing but a soulless body.  Absence of education, or at least the status quo of further progress of education in a nation, takes it to nothingness and this nothingness is again the inability to differentiate between what you know and what you don't."

The aim of education isn’t how much we have committed to our memory for the sake of passing certain exams nor it is just for earning money for living, but its purpose is to train intelligence, attitude and morale of an individual. Intelligence, attitude or behavior and moral are so linked with each other like body and soul. Its purpose is not just gaining of information, but its purpose is to polish a person’s intellect, and abilities. In brief, it can be said that EDUCATION IS FOR BUILDING CHARACTER AND PERSONALITY OF A PERSON.

How could all these qualities be developed? Of course by Education, but according to the above quote ……………….. It's  being able to differentiate between what you do know and what you don't."

The portion of the quote “what you don’t” means the dark side of our behavioral intelligence which does not allow us to see the bad deeds or the sins  we commit. Ignorance is a sin, it is tyranny (zulm )(and we are Zaalim)(Tyrant), because sometimes ignorance takes us to behave like a tyrant.   So knowing (education) is the ability to differentiate between knowing and not knowing, when an individual gets to the realization of his status, and mend him/herself there comes a healthy educated society, in resultant there comes peace, love and harmony.

  • Thanks Eva for your elaboration on the topic.  Your comment in itself is a blog (article). Regarding your question, I am totally agree with you.  Yes, of course, "if" an intelligent  person who has ample knowledge, and a certain background to a/any topic, and there is someone who is distorting a factual reality, it becomes obligatory for him/her to counter argue for the sake uprighting the record and bring forward the actual fact.

    Thanks for your concern Eva.

This is what education is also about, to stand up for yourself, to defend yourself.

  • Mishaikh,

What you have expressed above, that is very right and I do agree with you.

Education is a human right. The right to education is a fundamental human right in itself, but also an indispensable means of understanding and defending other Human Rights. One of the most essential human rights are the freedom of speech - Please do not misunderstand, here I am not talking about people who misuse the right to insult and denigrate others.

But, I want to ask you this, Mishaikh, if education makes of us an intelligent individual, one who is supposed to be able by their knowledge to argue in an eloquent and constructive way, when it is needed ... then why do people choose to stay silent?

Why? I really do not understand. If one feels insulted, if one feels someone crossed some boundaries ... then why intelligent, wise people choose to stay silent?

Speak up, that’s every humans right to defend themselves if we feel offended, why people stay silent? What are they afraid of, getting unpopular? Being hated? That people will not comment on their activities?

I really do not understand this attitude about just staying silent, sometimes that is not the option. That’s not wise, that’s not intellect, and most certainly that has nothing to do with education.

Staying silent means that you agree, that you accept. Staying silent means that you disrespect the people who died fighting for your right to speak up!

Staying silent when you feel offended is just not okay.

I hope you are able to understand the meaning of my comment in its right context.

It really truly make me so so sad to see, when people are perfectly able to counter argue, that they just keep silent ...,

  • Very nice comment Eman. Thanks!

  • Thanks Rose for your detailed comment.  Education is not academic degrees, it is the knowing what is right and what is wrong and lacking of which takes us to (as you said) wars.

    Thanks once again.

  • Thanks Roman for reading and comment.  The negativities you mentioned are because lack of education and proper morality.

  • Lack of education is the main problem in our world. It creates the base of prejudice, misunderstandings, hate, violence, and in the worst case wars.
People who are ignorant, also unable to write and to read don't have any possibilities to check something. People who don't have the opportunity to understand what happens, they only have to believe in what others tell them. They can't become independent in their mind. They become very easy victims of profiteers, political or religious extremists with evil or even dangerous intentions because they are not able to check what someone tells them. So they are unable to build an own opinion. To keep people ignorant is, unfortunately, a proven way to control and dominate people.
Lack of education keeps people poor because they don't have many options to earn enough for a living. It's a shame for us as humans that the minority of the world populations has more property than the majority. We can see already today the impact and the result of that. Never before in the history had been as many refugees on the road as nowadays. As long as education is a privilege mainly for people in "developed" countries, so long nothing will change.

Thanks for picking out this very important theme, Mishaikh.

  • Hi Mishaikh!

    That is right!

But sometimes it looks like, better to be unintelligent, but selfish. Because selfish people often get what they want and all they want - money. They don't care about such things as "cultural level of nation". They don't care about, in what kind of society their descendants will live.

    Thank you for sharing!
