Guys, let me invite you to my country. In this blog, I would like to share something little bit surprising, maybe interesting or totally unknown for some of you. Like you know, I come from Czech republic (in the past Czechoslovakia) and thanx to the fact that it is not such a big country, people usually know just some basic facts about it. Anyway, let me ask: Have you ever heard of Czech national heritage? I mean something we are really proud of! No? Ohhh… so in this case I would love to little bit enlighten you. Let me tell you that Czech republic can show off with several unique and picturesque castles, palaces, chateaus, ruins of the castles etc. Still not believing me? Ok, so let me come with a little proof :-)

You know, the thing is that my country isn't large, its area is just 79.000 km². For your better imagination - 41 Czech republics on the map would have the same area like India! Anyway, back to my point. Isn't it cool that in such small country you can come across more than 1500 sights and our top 100 castles are really beautiful ones you can see in the farytales and of course they are well preserved!

On the contrarery those castles that turned after some time into the ruins thanks to the wars in the past...Guess what? We also care about them and do the maximum to keep them because they also remind us of our history.

Many of those sights belong to the state and are open for the public, just some private are closed. You can visit our castles from April to October, only during the winter they are mostly closed as it isn't touristic season. Lately there are also many programmes you can come across, when you visit a castle... such as concerts, medieval fights organized by historical groups, performance for the kids etc. So, my friends, don't forget - one day, when you are in Czech republic, visit some castles because it is unforgettable experience and it is really worth it!

All the pictures were taken by me because I love our castles and our history and if you are interested in reading something more about Czech republic, you can check my other blogs:

  • Tanya, thanx for liking this all but like I said, it is better to come during the touristic season, however Prague is of course beautiful in winter too, especially if you visit Xmas market situated on Old Town Square - unforgettable experience! Anyway, let me disappoint you because I live like 400km far away from Prague :-D

Mary, hahahaaaaaaaa, yeah come to Prague and visit me there, good luck! You can find there just my sister :-p

  • Robbie, yeah they should give me some money, ha? I mean our government :-D such propaganda that will increase our state income! btw Barcelona? Whyyyyyyyyy? I have been to Barcelona twice and I can assure you Prague is much more better! (shhhhhhh, hope our Spanish cat is sleeping and our Spanish cake dog too!). So think long and hard and believe me that you won't regret! :-)

  • Tanya, what a great thing would be to do an EC meeting in Prague, don't you think? ^_^

  • Dear Luci! Thank you for such a great blog! I am so pleased to know you save the relicts of the past so well! The nation that doesn't know its past has no future. I believe, your country will have wonderful future  as your "soviet" past was forced to exist. I am so sorry to be a part of the nation that tried to destroy natural human values in a half of Europe. I believe, that Russia still pays back its debts without even knowing about it!

Great pictures! We will consider visiting Prague on our way this winter! (Keep you bar full! Ha-ha!)

  • What a great promotion about your country! Apart from London and Barcelona, I should include your country in my bucket list! Do I need to get a visa to get there? Your photos are amazing! It's always essential to know our history and culture because they represented an identity as a nation.

Thank you for sharing a very interesting blog! :)

  • Estanis,
I got used to it...you simply overlook lately my blogs and I wonder, if it is sth personal behind it or just your old worse vision :D well.. you would regret if you came now because castles are already closed and weather ehmmm...right now it is 2 degrees :D As for splitting up with Slovaks..hahaa...you wanna know sth spicy ...I see... Well, I like Slovaks and have nothing against them and it was actually their decission, so we let them go..no drama, no fights - that's how it should be, nah?
  • Agik, I am glad you liked it :)
  • Mishaikh, thank you :) I decided to shorten so that the reader wouldn't fall asleep :D
  • I almost loose this blog!
Really you don't work on any travel agency? :D
You made envious now, I admit. If I had read this before, I may go to Czech Republic instead of Switzerland next weekend :)

I have a little question, is it possible you to answer it briefly and in very general terms? Why Czechoslovakia was divided? I'd prefer your personal opinion instead of the neutral one of google :D
Thanks for sharing. I love these blogs.
Ahh,, you didn't mention anything about Czech beaches lol...
  • nice, thanks for sharing.. peace.. indonesiaa
