Hello friends,

Tara organized a new challenge for us; it's about comparing 2 photos. They must have similitaries, but at the same time, some contrasts too. So, your challenge is to compare the pictures and to answer my questions about them

So here are the 2 photos. First one wastaken in Rome, Italy the second one in Türkler, Turkey.

Questions:

1.What are the similitaries about those 2 photos ?
2.What are the differences ?
3.What can you say about the architecture of those 2 buildings ?
4.As you know that those photos were taken in Turkey and in Italy,
tell me what comes first to your mind when thinking about those
two countries.

  • Hello Tara,

Heheh, you' right, i wouldn't have missed this challenge :)) You got all right.  If you come all the way from Canada to Italy, you can also visit Turkey,(or vice-versa)  distances are not huge between the two countries and with low fair airlines it won't cost that much.

Thanks for organizing this great challenge... too bad so few people participate...

  • Dear Debbie,

Heheeh, you' re right, i knew these 2 photos would be challenging. But you know there are many things to say about them for me who saw those building in real.

You're right  those are religious buildings, St Peter in Rome and a mosque in south of Turkey.

As Tara mentioned, both photos were taken on a sunny the day, but as you both also noticed, light was very different.

You got it, decoration is very different. I can also add that in the mosque decoration is made only out of mosaics  as, in St Peter, it's only wall paintings

What we can say about the architecture is that, both buildings have domes and arches.

So i hope  you will have the chance to go in Turkey and in Italy to see those two wonderful monuments.

Thanks for taking part to this challenge

  • Excellent photo choices for this challenge! I knew I could count on you to join. I think the most noticeable difference between these two photos is the way the light shines through the windows. In the first photo you can see the rays of light shining through. In the second photo, you can't. On the other hand, it appears to be a sunny day in both photos.  Both photos have elaborate designs and are taken in places of worship. The first thing that comes to mind when I think of Turkey and Italy is, which one will I get to see first? Both countries are close to the top of my wish list!
  • Thanks Nadira, your answers are right but i will add that,  thought Italy and Turkey still have many culture's differences, some of the turkish cities on the western coast are becoming more and more "european".
  • 1 They are dome shape

2 The place of  worship . One is  of the  Church and the other is of the Mosque

    3 Medeival architecture

4 Two  countries  culturally  poles  apart
