Chillax! Let's have a cup of coffee :-)

Can you imagine your day without a cup of coffee? If not, welcome to the world of coffeeholics! Those, who love drinking coffee, those who consider preparing coffee everyday ritual, those who fully enjoy each sip and feel satisfied with awesome taste, aroma and pleasure it gives. Espresso, latté, arabic coffee, caffé lungo or filtered coffee? Which would you like to have? As I am coffeeholic, who loves to drink coffee twice a day, I decided to come up with this topic and do some research here on EC.

No doubt coffee has been here for ages but do you know, who discovered this special, energetic affect of caffeine? You might find it funny but in 9th century AD Ethiopian shephards found out that their goats were "dancing" after eating coffee burries. Later a local monk decided to make a cup of those coffee burries and to his surprise he couldn't sleep at night. Poor monk, hope he didn't make it too strong and didn't die of heart attack! Another interesting thing is that in the past coffee was even banned and not just once! Mekka, Italy, Constantinopole, Sweden and Prussia (nowadays Germany) – places all around the world and some people simply didn't consider coffee good enough! However, nowadays we can enjoy it without fear everywhere but... wait, wait… not everytime! I came across one fact - according to some scientists we should drink coffee between 9:30am and 11:30am. As for me, I drink my first coffee usually at 8am or 8:30 am at work and I have no idea, if I would be able to wait till 9:30 am to take my cup of coffee. Yeah, coffee addicts simply can't wait! :D

By the way, do you know what some names of coffee stand for? No? So check this out ;-)

Espresso – it means "forced out" – if you have espresso machine, you may know the way espresso is being prepared, it is literally forced out - I mean warm watter is forced out under the pressure through ground coffee, by the way original espresso is just a cup of 25 ml coffee!

Capuchino – in fact a cup of capuchino looks like a dress that Capuchin monks were wearing. I guess, it is because of the cap of this costume, which can remind some people of a cap made of milk. Otherwise, I have no idea, what is similar here :-D

Latté – in Italian latté means milk, so if you would go to the store and asked for latté, they would give you just milk. That is why, it is called Caffé Latté - coffe with steamed milk

Caffé Lungo – this is what I enjoy, it is bigger espresso because original espresso is too strong for somebody like me and I would drink it in few seconds and then would die :-D I want to enjoy drinking coffee and spend some time with my love (coffee)

Turkish Coffee – in fact, this is not a kind of coffee but a special method of preparing unfiltered coffee, which is used in many Arabic countries. In every country it is called differently – Syrian Coffee, Greek coffee, Bosnian coffee etc. However, it came originally from Yemen as the Turkish soultan fell in love with this coffee there and spread it then to Turkey…

Instant Coffee – time to time I also enjoy my Nescafé, even though I know it is not that healthy as it is instant coffee and as for quality I bet many coffee experts would slap me for drinking something like this. But…. it is not that expensive, you prepare it fast and easy and that is the point :-)

Let me ask you...Would you like to drink the most expensive coffee in the world? If yes - then be ready with 600 dollars in your pocket…what for? Well, these coffee beans are very special and expensive because they are excreted by Sumatraean wild cat!!! Another very expensive coffee is made of beans you can come across in dung of Thai Elephants. Bon apetit, guys! :-D And now something for our EC cats a cat lovers :-) In Japan and Korea exist CAT COFFEES, where you can hang out with the cats, while drinking coffee! :-D

Sooo..which coffee is your favorite and when do you drink it?

Coffee Bonbon sounds cool and I would go for it like once a year :D we use this milk to make egg cognac (liquere) with rum which we drink during the Xmas holidays. Back to coffee...I hope one day we will drink it together :p
  • Adaaa.. thanx for showing us your stove top coffee maker. Isn't this sth related to French pot? I m not so much familiar with it :D u put ground coffee and water inside? Make me smarter please :p
  • haha! how lucky you guys can drink coffee as much as you like. I used to like coffee very much until the doctor said it's not good to my stomach -that time I was 10 years old and now I almost never take it :/ but yah doesn't matter. there are still many beverages I could enjoy. Btw I know that expensive coffee you refer to, it's called Kopi Luwak in my country (Sumatra Island is in Indonesia). Dunno why I am not surprised you know few cases from my country, you must be a high intelligent woman, hehehe.. Cheers!!!

  • Hey Luci! I see you're a Coffee Pro! :D

My smart-ass knew some of that info, like the sheeps thing and the shitted coffee beans (ewww!!) And there is also one of these cat coffee shops in Madrid, but I haven't been there (too 'snob' for me, hahaha)

Well, my heart is split 50% coffee, 50% green tea. I prefer to drink coffee just in the morning (Lungo with just few drops of milk) but I could drink coffee even at night, since caffeine seems not to have any side effect for me (still i can sleep like a log!) I used to drink more coffee some years ago, but now I just drink that morning coffee and the rest of the day I'm loyal to my green tea :P

Oh btw, I don't know if you know a coffee called 'Coffee Bombon'. It has its origin in Valencia, Spain. I'ts an espresso sweetened with condensed milk. It's suuuuper sweet, so you better drink just one... if you don't wanna get a hyperglycemic attack XD  (needless to say i love this coffee!)

Cool blog. Thanks for sharing! :)
