Chestnut time in Kiev

Kiev, the capital of Ukraine, is famous for its chestnut trees. There are more than 2 mln. chesnuts growing all round the city in the parks and just along the streets. The house I live in is located on a srort side street that is about 300 m long and there are more than 100 such trees on it ! During Soviet times white chestnut bloom was an official emblem of Kiev. Unfortunately now it is inofficial one. But any Kiev born person starts telling about our city mentioning these trees. There are also some chestnut trees in Odessa, Ukraine and one can see many of them in Paris. They usually start blooming at the very beginning of May together with lilac that can also be a symbol of our city because it grows everywhere here. Lilac is also very beautiful and smells great. But is grows all over the world and can't be Kiev emblem .

I wish you could see my city in May! It looks like a great blosssoming garden! Welcome!
