Be aware, there are sometimes people who try to cheat us.
Just look at this chat, it's about a chat I had this evening. I just continued that chat to show you all how they try it. In the end, I reported that member and blocked her.

    • My pleasure, Estanis. Thanks for your kind comment.

Haha ..I am not always good at manners...

Sometimes, I lose my temper. Have just a look at my post about the usage of try to do....and try doing. I hate losing my temper but sometimes, I cant help doing it.

    • :-o

    • True words, Ken.

      Thanks for your comment.

  • Oi there, folks

It seems that some people are downright reluctant to have their bank account enlarged by a cool 2.2 million greenbacks - wonder who and why made up the saying:"Pecunia non olet"! ;-)

    • Ha-ha, Rys.

Are you sure money doesn't stink?
I was once on holiday in a country where I had to change money into the local currency. I put some banknotes in the safe. Every time, when I opened the safe to take money out, I nearly passed out because of the stinky smell. Then, I asked a local man why the banknotes stink so much. The answer was very unappetizing.
The reason was: the locals carry the money in their shoes for security reasons. Isn't that crazy?

  • Yep, you're right, Rose, we should always be aware that some people wanna trick us into giving them valuable information that can be used for scams.
Like: e-mail address, real name, abode, bank details, credit card number, etc.

    Nice post. ;)

    • Hi, NotAClue.

Indeed! I would like to know if someone actually falls for it and releases their data.

      .

    • Hi, Rose,
well, scammers operate at different skill levels... not everyone who tries a scam does that since long, or knows how it works... This was an old scam theme and a very known (it has even a name!). Actually this kind is used mostly by e-mail (with infested links) or bots because it's not likely that people will fall for it anymore. You should supply your bank details, or pay a small amount of money for fees. Anyways, the first questions are always to determine if the person is 'a good target', and 'how much time is worth investing' ... You've revealed yourself as not worthy spending time (you're not alone, worked in IT)

So, telling people that you're a woman/man, living alone, under 20 or over 60 years old, lower grade of education, etc. makes you a target which would be worth more time. (evil thinking...) so they will actually spend more time feeding you trust ... can be hours/days/weeks/ before they reveal their "offer".

Okay, don't wanna teach people how to scam others, you got the picture. Yes, people click out of curiosity on links which (should) show/prove the validity of that person's identity; they give "online-friends" small amounts of money for the next rent, or small loans; they invest in fake businesses, etc.

Have a nice day and don't get paranoid! ;-)

    • Haha, NotAClue.

I never get paranoid. Thanks for your detailed comment. There is nothing to add.

  • Hi, Arrow, Dreamer and Bet.

    Thanks for your comments.

I realized very quickly what that person wanted.

I just did not stop the chat, because I wanted her to continue speaking out the nonsense. As you can see, she even did not stop after I told her she tries cheating me.
