Asking for Advice

I am here asking for some advice.
I am a senior in HaiNan University, majoring in Chemical Engineering and Technology. I am in the face with taking up an occupation a year later. But, I am still somehow at a loss to date. Well, some graduated students of our major went to chemical factory, such as Petrochemical Plant, cosmetics industry, or some others like this. But I don’t like the environment in the factories, and it’s bad for people’s health. Also, I consider it futureless. Furthermore, I won’t choose it as my lifelong career by any possibility.
By the way, I am fond of literature, English, and something graceful, leisurely, maybe. Luxurious, somewhat. As we all know, life is a serious thing, we have to keep our commitments, and hold obligations to give our family a satisfying life, which is our payment back for the family raising.
A fork road, now I am facing to. I can’t see where my future is. To live up to my parents’ expectation, I should get more education, more and more. I don’t like it at all. I am considering to open a cake shop nearby the university. Of course, it’s absolutely difficult to start an undertaking, especially without experience.
There must be many experienced masters here, may you please make a proposal on my direction after graduation?
Well, if my dream of opening a cake shop comes true, you are all welcome~ and I promise a special discount ~

Thank you !

    there is still one year before i graduate ,and many things to do for my graduetion.project thesis will take me several months  and i have to prepare for  BEC certificate test before it.so the earlist time i begin my career will be next year.i hope at that time i could be clearer about my choice.

    thank you once more~

  • Don't lose hope, you'll find your way!

     It's hard to take a decision when you only theorize things, you have to live facts to understand what you want. I think now it's important to continue your studies and give a chance to your career in your field (even if for a while). When you'll obtain a financial comfort (and a content that you have a qualification) you can choose (and I encourage you) to do what you like (the cake shop, is quite a smart idea, and the literature-a beautiful one).

    I think Max Ehrmann was very wise in his poem, when he said:

    "Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
    Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
    it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time."

    Good luck! (and please no discount! :)
