Affordability in Hajj

The countdown has begun. In a few days' time Hajj is coming. For those who are able to perform Hajj, they should perform it sooner. Do not say, I am young, I will postpone it till I am old. As long as you are able, do it at once. As for the ability to perform Hajj, the Haji should be healthy and have some mean of transport to travel to the  holy house of Allah. Pilgrims can  travel by planes, cars, animals or choose whatever means of travel they can afford to get there. It depends on the ability of the pilgrim himself. He must have enough provisions for the journey, back and forth, that are above what he needs to support his family until he returns from his pilgrimage. The woman must have her husband  or a Mahram if she intends to perform Hajj or Umrah.  As for the reward of Hajj, it is according to the person's sincerity to God. The performance of the rites, the prohibition he avoids, the money he spends for the perfect performance of Hajj. Prophet Mohammed, (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him ) said, ((Hajj mabroor has no reward but Jannah)).

Mahram  = a male relative who is unmarriageable

mabroor = accepted

jannah   = paradise

Haji       = pilgrim

  • Donnobad Afro! By the way, you have been to many places. Have you been to Umrah or Hajj?

  • Informative.

  • Jazakallah!Very good informative blog.Right now I feel to perform hajj as soon as possible.Inshaallah!
  • Can we say or do anything without the help of Allah? It's just the general meaning of ability for the haji. If he is strong, he is more able to perform the rites than the weak one. Thank you Mishaikh. your additional explanation is more useful.

  • Mahram = a male relative (with whom the woman can't marry, like son, father, brother)

    Mabroor = accepted (by Allah).

    Hajj = pilgrim
    Haji = the one who visits to perform Hajj.

    Hajj is done only with the help of Allah, otherwise it is so tiring for the healthy one too.
    BUT I have seen old people (very old around 90s) performing all the rituals of Hajj without any hinder or problem better than a healthy person.

    I have seen during my Hajj visit, an over 90 years old lady, who was bent at a 90 degree because of age, but she was doing tawaf (encircling Ka'aba) faster than any healthy man.

    I use to say, we do not do Hajj, it is just done otherwise there is no man (it is my opinion) who can claim that I have done Hajj, it is all Allah's help there for each and every performer among 03 millions pilgrims. Subhan Allah! Subhan Allah, Allah o Akbar!!!
