A letter to a dead son

The time of school comes , the time of sadness comes . children go to their schools They race, fight playfully ,play practical jokes on one another, laugh with all their hearts. They are joyful .They remind me of you, dear. So I hurry to the market to bring you clothes ,pencils, colors , balls..as I did last year , but I forget to ask you , do you have schools , stars , windows ? …do you have fields to play because I know you were interested in playing … but today it is a pity to see your grave is narrow .

If you ask me what have we done when you left us ? we replace our home and choose another one . It is far from your school, as your mother can’t look at it when you left. We change our clothes to black color .

Do you remember your TV? you used to watch and cry at the end of sad cartoons , so we replace your things , your TV ,chair , table .we replace our joy to sorrow .

Everyday we offer our souls to the ghost of death to buy , and we have no wish but just join to you soon.

  • Truly, it saddens me that your two of your grandchildren have very serious illnesses , but I feel proud of them in the same time , because They both are very helpful to others, and they both live their lives to the fullest They conquer their illnesses . Hearing such a story gives me inspiration, endless motives to defeat any difficulties and hope to go ahead .

I have a severe tinnitus (ringing in ears).sometimes I feel so tired from the annoying sounds Seeing some ill people live their lives to the fullest is so soothing and help others to cope better with their suffering .

  • Such a sad story, that expresses well the depth of sadness we feel when a loved one is lost. I have lost toooo many from this life, as I'm sure have most people. ANY always seems too many to lose. But when I think of those who are gone I think mostly of the joys they brought when they were here. I do miss them.

But they also teach us, I think, to cherish each day that we do have, and to live each day to the best of our ability. Two of my grandchildren have very serious illnesses, possibly fatal, but one always hopes not. They are sisters and both too young to have these illnesses, diagnosed in their mid-20's while in college. But truly, they are an inspiration. They both are very oriented to serving others, and they both live their lives to the fullest that they can. One is married now and has a daughter of her own (healthy). But the way they both devote their interests to others and live each day fully is for me a huge inspiration.

  •  Yasemine ,When a person uncovers his previous past , dating back many years , for sure , he would remember many sad events in the course of his life. But l have learnt that complaining to people or even telling sad stories is an unwelcomed behavior . Yes , I should not write so sad things .
When I feel that I am very exhausted from running years. and my smile disappears behind wrinkles' days , and the life becomes unbearable .When I feel that life becomes a prison for my breathes ,and hours mean nothing but more of pain , and everything becomes painful.
I should draw a smile of a sadness on my face , and shed tears of a happiness from my eyes.
Thank you dear for your nice comment .

  • sweety ,thank you for your nice comment . Yes , I am faithful man .We should except God’d willing as we are Muslims .Concerning to your question ,I am not a very good at English , I still make big unexpected mistakes . I am not good at speaking at all , I always speak formally with my friends that means; I have no a good experiment in casual speaking ,but I try to do my best to improve my level.
I reckon that I am a devoted reader and this is the best step for learning . I always exam what I read and check words according to English dictionary . EC provides me by unique teachers like Anele and Hala and others. I have learnt many new things from them .I was so poor learner before joining this club .
    Many thanks dear .

  • I hope no reason made you write this writing. I mean not even a bad mood or a memory. Losing a person whom you love a lot is the world's hardest thing to bear. But, nobody can't live with this pain till the end. Time... It's just the time that will lessen the pain. You can never forget, but also you can't live with it either.

  • soo sad story, but we must accept what Allah made for us as we are muslims and we believe in desitny. be patient and try to wear white instead of black , also when u remembber the good things of the ur son, try to ask allah to grant him el jana,

about improving ur writing skills , would you please tell me what are the steps that u follewed to make it in that way, thanks in advance

  • I should be thankful for your kindness , and for everything by the way , I save the first post of you in EC in my PC . If you need it …Thanks .

  • Deepa,

Thank you for sharing me your nice view .You are welcome.

  • Anele@You are absolutely right , some comments have a great influence on a person . Whether they are supportive or mockery comments , they inject great motives in the learner to make him go ahead and improve himself .One day I published a post which was entitled by (Do not be at the fate side) the post talked about my neighbor’s girl .
She is a little dumb girl .The post was sad but ,An advanced learner commented (mocked) on this post and say : ……….I do not understand your story..
I felt shy as he could not understand it , and my post was an object of ridicule in his comment Anele ,this comment had a great influence on me as much as your unforgettable supportive comments , so later on , I did, and still do my best to make my writing understandable.
I’d like to tell you ,that you are a part of all my posts , because many of them come as a result of your encouragements .I am still keeping your supportive comments besides some of your previous posts and participations as impressive reminders .
    Thank you so much.

Since I have learnt English ,I like Elegiac poems . I read many poems such as :Elegy Written in a Country Churchyard by Thomas Gray and Memoriam the volume’s Alfred Tennyson , The Waste land by T.C Eliot. I cannot conceal the fact that I am so moved by this kind of poetry and translate many of those poems into Arabic.

I try to write this post as a kind of Elegiac writing . He is not my real son but my relative .
Thank you so much for sharing me your nice comment .
