In 1933, Choudhary Rehamt Ali wrote first pamphlet on Pakistan "Now or Never" in which he coined the word "Pakistan" was formed from the initials of the component units -P for the Punjab, A for the Afghan Province (Khybar Pakhtubkhaw), K for Kashmir, S for Sindh and TAN for Balochistan---- and meant literally, " the land of the pure' (Pak=pure + stan=land).Three Round Table Conference were convened in London from 1930 to 1932 to resolve the Indian constitutional problem. In the light of these conferences, the proposals for Indian Constitution in a document named as White Paper were issued in 1933. Consequently, Act named The Government of Indian Act,1935 came into operation in 1936. It was fully enforced on 1 April, 1937. Under this Act, the election, 1937 was held. Both Congress and Muslim League were critical of this Act, yet decided to participate the election.The result of the Election was in favour of Congress which won a great electoral victory. Majority of Muslims casted their votes for Congress. Even no seat was won in Khyber Pakhtunkhaw and 2 seats in Punjab. The Congress assumed power in 1937.(To be continued......)
