A BALANCED DIET

we know that food we eat affects our whole life. What does " balanced diet" mean?

The food includes: carbohydrates(glucose, rice, sugar...),protein(meat), fat, vitamins, mineral salts, fiber.

carbohydrates: these provide a source of energy. It gives you energy and you feel less hungry.

Proteins: these provide a source of materials for growth and repair

Fats: these provide a source of energy and contain fat soluble vitamin( vitamin A,D,E,K)

Vitamins: these are required in very small quantities to keep you healthy

vitamin A( carrot, tomato, pear...) :good for your eyes

vitamin B(cereals, beef,liver...): good for your nerves and take part at chemical reaction in body.

vitamin C( lemon, orange, .....):  needed for your body  to repair itself.

vitamin D: can be make in your skin, needed for absorption of Calcium

  so on.........

Mineral Salts: these are required for healthy teeth, for hormone

   for example:

           Iron: required to make haemoglobine

Calcium: required for healthy teeth, bones and muscles...

Sodium: all cells need this, especially nerve cells.

Iodine: used to make a hormone called thyroxin.

Fiber( cellulose): this is required to help your intestines function correctly

A Balanced Diet: we must have the above items in the correct proportion.

so they must have a balanced ratio: carbohydrates: 40%

                                                           Proteins           :30%

                                                           Fats                 :30%

This will help you stay fit and healthy, but don't forget about exercise either! We all need exercise.

Follow these guidelines and enjoy the food you eat -THAT IS THE KEY TO A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE.
