Benares Historical House

Sometimes you look for a clue to tie you with the past making you feel who you are today. Maybe you can find that clue either on the shelves of a kitchen or in a baking powder can. This magic baking powder which was used in 1838 still stands out in Benares historical house. The house was purchased along with 197 acres by Captain James Harris, an English sailor. And, it passed on to his son, Arthur Harris due to the death of three other children. The major work of Harris family was farming. They produce strawberries. Arthur and his wife had three children. Among them, Naomi Harris never got married and spent her entire life in the house. After her death, the family donated the house to Ontario Heritage Foundation. Four generations lived in the house and tried to preserve every detail of the past. What makes this house so special is all artefacts originally belonged to the Harris family.
