Burn Calories at Work!!!!

You may spend your workdays at a desk, but you don't need to take it sitting down. Make workplace exercises starting from fitness breaks to walking meetings ~a must part of your routine.

If you're doing your best to set aside time for physical activity either before work or after work, good for you — but finding time to exercise can be a challenge for anyone who has a busy schedule. Why not work out while you're at work? Consider 10 ways to make workplace exercises part of your routine.

No. 1: Make the most of your commute

Walk or bike to work. If you ride the bus or the subway, get off a few blocks early or at an earlier stop than usual and walk the rest of the way. If you drive to work, park at the far end of the parking lot — or park in the lot for a nearby building. In your building, take the stairs rather than the elevator.

No. 2: Look for opportunities to stand

You'll burn more calories standing than sitting.  Stand while talking on the phone. Better yet, try a standing desk — or improvise with a high table or counter. Eat lunch standing up. Trade instant messaging and phone calls for walks to other desks or offices.

No. 3: Take fitness breaks

Rather than hanging out in the lounge with coffee or a snack, take a brisk walk or do some gentle stretching. For example, face straight ahead, then lower your chin to your chest. Or, while standing, grab one of your ankles — or your pant leg — and bring it up toward your buttock. Hold each stretch for 15 to 30 seconds.

No. 4: Trade your office chair for a fitness ball

Consider trading your desk chair for a firmly inflated fitness or stability ball, as long as you're able to safely balance on the ball. You'll improve your balance and tone your core muscles while sitting at your desk. You can even use the fitness ball for wall squats or other workplace exercises during the day.

No. 5: Keep fitness equipment in your work area

Store resistance bands — stretchy cords or tubes that offer weight-like resistance when you pull on them — or small hand weights in a desk drawer or cabinet. Do arm curls between meetings or tasks.

No. 6: Get social

Organize a lunchtime walking group. You might be surrounded by people who are ready to lace up their walking shoes — and hold each other accountable for regular exercise. Enjoy the camaraderie, and offer encouragement to one another when the going gets tough.

No. 7: Conduct meetings on the go

When it's practical, schedule walking meetings or walking brainstorming sessions. Do laps inside your building or, if the weather cooperates, take your walking meetings outdoors.

No. 8: Pick up the pace

If your job involves walking, do it faster. The more you walk and the quicker your pace, the greater the benefits.

No. 9: If you travel for work, plan ahead

If you're stuck in an airport waiting for a plane, grab your bags and take a brisk walk. Choose a hotel that has fitness facilities — such as treadmills, weight machines or a pool — or bring your equipment with you. Jump-ropes and resistance bands are easy to sneak into a suitcase. Of course, you can do jumping jacks, crunches and other simple exercises without any equipment at all.

No. 10: Try a treadmill desk

If you're ready to take workplace exercise to the next level, consider a more focused walk-and-work approach. If you can safely and comfortably position your work surface above a treadmill — with a computer screen on a stand, a keyboard on a table or a specialized treadmill-ready vertical desk — you might be able to walk while you work. In fact, Mayo Clinic researchers estimate that overweight office workers who replace sitting computer time with walking computer time by two to three hours a day could lose 44 to 66 pounds (20 to 30 kilograms) in a year. The pace doesn't need to be brisk, nor do you need to break a sweat. The faster you walk, however, the more calories you'll burn.

Drones!!! Do you want it?

Drones!!! Do you see it like this way---?

Certainly NOT(lol)!!

Meet  Amazon’s drones..

Amazon, the world's largest online retailer, is testing unmanned drones to deliver goods to customers, Chief Executive Jeff Bezos says.

Well it is being reported that the drones aka. Octocopters, could deliver goods weighing up to 2.3kg to customers within 30 minutes of them placing the order. However, Jeff Bezos added that it could take up to five years for the service to start. The US Federal Aviation Administration is yet to approve the use of unmanned drones for civilian purposes. From a technology point of view, Amazon is ready to enter commercial operations as soon as the necessary regulations are in place.

The service will be called Prime Air and comes as Amazon is looking to improve its efficiency to boost growth. Amazon already  posted a video on its website shown below.

Here are some pics

It shows a drone picking up a package from one of its warehouses and delivering it to the doorstep of a customer's house. However, it still has to wait for permission from US regulators. The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has approved the use of drones for police and government agencies, issuing about 1,400 permits over the past several years.

Civilian air space is expected to be opened up to all kinds of drones in the US by 2015 and in Europe by 2016. Existing regulations are in place to minimise the risk of injury to people on the ground, said Dr Darren Ansell, an expert on unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) from the University of Central Lancashire.

"The UAVs do not currently have the awareness of their environment to be able to avoid flying into people. To deliver goods to people's homes for example in residential areas, the UAVs must overfly densely populated towns and cities, something that today's regulations prevent. "Other things to consider are security of the goods during the transit. With no one to guard them the aircraft and package could be captured and stolen," he said.Amazon said: "from a technology point of view, we'll be ready to enter commercial operations as soon as the necessary regulations are in place." The FAA was "actively working on rules for unmanned aerial vehicles", the company said, adding that it hoped the green light would be given as early as 2015. "One day, Prime Air vehicles will be as normal as seeing mail trucks on the road today."

Zookal, an Australian textbook rental company, already declared that it would start using drones to make deliveries from 2015 .Australian law allows the use of unmanned aircraft for commercial use.

So, question is ...do you want drones flying up your home ??

Stay Fit !!

Hello guys, I guess you people are having a great time in EC. The learning atmosphere has made people glued to this site. Thanks to the moderators, this site is free from spam. Apart from its obvious reasons to stay here all the time, have you ever given a thought that hour after hour as you are spending time here or elsewhere on internet in front of computer, your body is suffering from serious health complications? Sitting posture is an important factor in both your health and performance. You spend probably half of your day sitting at your desk and PC, therefore how you sit has a huge impact on your muscles, digestive system, blood circulation, breathing and even your bones. Sitting in a wrong posture for a long time causes muscles imbalance.  A wrong sitting posture can lead to many other problems like cervical pain, body fatigue, body fluid circulation and it can also lead to muscle and joint tension.

But, see not to worry!! I am here for you. How to overcome this?? Supposedly leave the wrong posture and go for correct posture!! (lol)

A correct or specially a good posture will do more to keep you looking youthful as the years go by than a face-lift or Botox. And the benefits of maintaining your bone health are much more than skin-deep.Here are 5 tips to keep you standing tall at any time:

  • Always try tilting the head forward. This helps prevent neck injury. Try Sitting without lumbar support. This helps to prevent back pain. Try Working with arms raised. This helps  to prevent neck and shoulder pain. Try bending wrists. This helps to prevent muscle cramps. Try to work with unsupported forearms. This helps to prevent shoulder and back pain.

  • Sitting on a chair that is too low affects your body badly. It disrupts blood circulation in lower legs, causing swelling. It puts pressure on internal organs. It creates too much pressure on buttocks and causes discomfort. So, please avoid that. Similar goes for high worktable.

  • A already been mentioned earlier, to have a good posture it's very important for you to be able to stretch and open up and improve your range of motion. To stay limber, try to get up for a couple minutes every half hour and stretch, walk, or stand.
  •  When you are at desk, sitting up with good, tall posture and your shoulders dropped is a good habit to get into. This can take some time getting used to; exercise disciplines that focus on body awareness, such as Pilates and yoga, can help you to stay sitting straight. Make sure your sitting place is set up to promote proper posture.
  •  Try having meal in between. Not junk food like you order from online food stores. Better go for fruits and healthy food.
