Russia part 2

1. The most popular social network in Russia is “VK”.

The full name if this social network is called as “VKontakte”. I don’t know exactly how it can be translated into English. Its name means approximately that people are online and ready to chat. “VK” is like “Facebook” but it has differences in the interface keeping all needed options. Few Russians have accountants in “Facebook”.

2. Russian language is very hard and varied.

Many foreign people have difficulties when they learning Russian. It depends on adjective, genders, grammar cases and changeable words in our language. Also words in clauses can be in a various order. Also all foreigners have accents. That’s why we always know that we are speaking with a foreign person. As for me sometimes I make grammar mistakes as the most people. Russian language is very hard and for Russians. Often Russians like to say ambiguous phrases as “ Yes no maybe” and use a lot of unnecessary words and aphorisms.

3. The most favourite holiday is New Year.

A symbol of New Year is Grandfather Frost. He brings presents for all children and leave them under a fir. Our national tradition is preparing salads, “herring under a fur coat”, potato and another tasty dishes for dinner. At the same time we watch old Russian comedies. Then The Chiming clock sees 12 am and people start to drink champagne and fire salutes. All people congratulate each other with New Year. Oh, I have forgotten to say that our president always congratulates his citizens’ with this holiday before 12 am.

Education in Russia (school)

Every child starts going to school from the age of six or seven and till 16/17.  The primary school teaches its pupils elementary skills, such as reading, writing, counting. The most important period is the secondary school, which starts from the 4th or 5th grade, depending on school. This is the time when children start learning Biology, Geography, Chemistry, Physics, Computing, and many other new subjects. At the 9th grade children face a very important period in their life. They have to choose whether to continue school education, or to leave for other types of educational institutions, such as college, specialized schools and else. If the pupil decides to continue studying in high school, which lasts for two years, he can enter the university after school graduation.

Every school teaches  foreign languages. Usually these are English and German. But ordinary pupils learn them very badly because schools have bad English schoolbooks and English teachers. And if a pupil wants to know foreign languages he must to pay his tutor. That’s why nobody in Russia know English.

Generally education in Russia is not well. Firstly children have many subjects and they don’t learn them in time. Secondly the most of schools have out-of-date material for teaching. Often parents of pupils have to pay for repair of school or classes, textbooks, new apparatuses and etc. Also teachers don’t like to teach because they hate their job as they have little wages.

Graduating for school every pupil must pass United State Exam. How does it work? Nowadays there are two mandatory exams – math and Russian. Every pupils must pass them. But each university installs exams. For instance if you want be a veterinarian you shall pass Russian, math and biology. You can score until 100 points for every exam. I can say that it is impossible.

Pupils are thought that they shall not learn for getting new knowledge but for passing United State Exam. A lot of pupils score their psyche training for the exam.

In conclusion I’d like  to say that study in Russia is not interesting thing. I can compare it with a incubator for children because adults try to give much burden to children that they are busy all time and don’t get into troubles.

Russia part 1

Russia is the biggest country in the world. But what is Russia indeed? I have tried to collect the most famous myths and facts about Russia and Russian people.

1. It is very hard to drink more alcohol than a Russian. Yes, it is true because many Russian men like to drink. Sometimes they drink hard and often and ultimately they become alcoholics. Also there is a Russian tradition – all occasion can’t be without alcohol. But today a lot of our people start to lead a healthy lifestyle. However alcohol remains a problem for Russia.

2. The Russians are angry and gloomy. Yes, it is also true. The Russians treat stranger badly and don’t like to tell them about their life. Life in Russia is hard because the most our people are poor and salaries are little. Also our government doesn’t want to help its people. Russian men have to use their strength during a work day. That’s why they are severe and strong. But if you a friend of a Russian you have a friend on whole your life because our people are very devoted.

3. Russia is famous for its frosts. Winters in some regions are very and very cold. But in the central part of Russia winter is cold seldom. Sometimes we have little snow in winter! But the north regions have much snow and cool frosts in autumn, winter and spring. I can describe ordinary weather in my region as rainy. There are rains even in winter. That’s why is seems colder than it is in reality. But sometimes our winters are such cold that it is impossible to be outside even for no long time. Fortunately it happens no often.
