Life and Emotions....

Ever wondered ‘what is life…’?For many of us it is an unsolved puzzle with a bundle of many convoluted things involved in it.. To be honest, none of us can define what life is…because it is involved with so many complex and intricate things. It is something that makes you happy and proud at times and at times make you feel low and miserable that we often wonder and ask ourselves“Why was I born”?What is the purpose of my existence...”?But whatever it may be Life is Real Fun if lived to the fullest.Every moment something new happens in our lives which we never expect and sometimes things don’t happen what we expect….That’s life!It is a combination of emotions like happiness and sorrow, excitement and fear, love and anger, enjoyment and loneliness etc.. and such a huge phenomena that it cannot be defined in a single line. It is a fusion of emotions. Some of us work with emotion and some in emotion. So emotions play a vital part in the personality trait of a person and are directly related to the psychology of a person. If we allow emotion to get control of us then we are dragged by others and situations all the timeBut if we control our emotions in a proper way then we will have complete control on ourselves and won’t let anyone take advantage of us. The way we use our emotions is called as attitude.AndThis attitude determines our Altitude in lifeSome use their emotions in a positive way and some in negative wayEmotions used in positive way are known as positive attitude and emotions used in negative way is known as negative attitude. So it is up to us to decide which way to use our emotions…

Crazy ain't stupid..

One truck driver was doing his usual delivery to MHH (Mental Health Hospital). He discovered a flat tyre when he was about to go home. He jacked up the truck and took the flat tyre down. When he was about to fix the spare tyre, he accidentally dropped all the bolts into the drain.. As he can't fish the bolts out, he started to panic. One patient happened to walk past and asked the driver what happened. The driver thought to himself, since there's nothing much he can do; he told the patient the whole incident. The patient laughed at him said "can't even fix such a simple problem.... no wonder you are destined to be a truck driver..."Here's what you can do, take one bolt each from the other 3 tyres and fix it onto this tyre. Then drive to the nearest workshop and replace the missing ones, easy as that" The driver was very impressed and asked "You're so smart but why are you here at the MMH?"Patient replied: "Hello, I stay here because I'm crazy....... not STUPID!"

Water…the precious gift ...

DO YOU KNOW?We are all water creatures. It makes up: 60% of our body, 70 % of our brain, and 80% of our blood. We can go almost a month without food but we cannot survive even a week without water. The same water that existed on Earth billions of years ago still exists today. It covers most of the planet but just 3 % is fresh water (and most of that is ice). Less than 1% of all fresh water is readily accessible for human use. To put it in another way, less than 0.010% of all the water on Earth is available to drink.Of all the clean water that enters your home is used to flush toilets. One toilet flush uses 3 gallons, a single load of laundry-40 gallons, 10 minute shower-50 gallons, brushing with the tap running-4 gallons, brushing with the tap off-0.25 gallons.Water crisis is looming. Our water sources are under pressure. As the world population is growing day by day so is the usage of water..Even the so called modernization in many of our cities is gulping down our water reservoirsMillions of people in the world live on less than 3 gallons each day. In most of our rural and semi-urban areas people walk miles to get a pot of water... 3 in 10 people lack access to adequate sanitation. 1 in 5 does not have access to safe drinking water. According to the WHO, a child dies from a water- related disease every 15 seconds. The emerging worldwide water shortage is serious. It is been said, we are going to run out of water before we run out of oil. Due to over-pumping, the groundwater in several countries is almost gone. Depleted aquifers lead to cutbacks in agricultural harvests which lead to more food shortages and shooting prices. This has already been reflected in the large grain deficits. The major producers of grains like India, China, Brazil, Russia, Egypt and Pakistan there has been a sharp grain deficit too amongst these countries. Our water problem is fast becoming a hunger problem. So what does it all mean?Give water a second thought.WATER IS PRECIOUS ..……Save Water …

At times lady luck seems to dump you…things may go from bad to worse. Such situations where you can merely wait and see events take their own course before you rise helplessly. Our office is unlike other workplaces. A bundle of files ranging from brochures, pamphlets, prospectuses to other innumerable advertisements await you on our desk every morning adding to our daily woes. (Sorry! for my recklessness! After all, our work is worship not a woe!). The clock strikes 9 and the work start in full flow. The constant ringing of the phone is enough to drive one barmy. Somehow the very second of the morning sun seemed somewhat inauspicious and sultry that day.Having done with the office work, me and Aileen slumped into our chairs and heaved a sigh of relief! We glanced at the huge clock of our office and lo! It was the time to scoot as the clock displayed 5 past 6 O’clock! We immediately started packing our bags. No wonder by this time we have developed a mild headache as we had a very frantic day and the heat too was intense with added humidity. So we thought of going to the refreshment center nearby. As the clock struck 6, we bade goodbye to our colleagues and marched towards the refreshment center. Amidst our conversation at the refreshment center, I suddenly asked Aileen about the apparels given for tailoring.I asked “What about the apparels Aileen” ??? You obviously forgot that they were due today. To my surprise Aileen forgot completely about the apparels. She replied softly – “Sorry dear! Shall we go then?”In affirmativeness, we both trotted towards the bus stop. At the bus stop something captivated us. In their richly, sweeter form were they…Yes! The ‘Totapari’ variant of mangoes. The sweet aroma enthralled the area and I bet nobody could ever withstand the temptation the sight offered. The very next moment we both exchanged glee and marched super speed towards the stall. We involuntarily drained our purses and got ourselves few delicious slices of the mango...But before we could gorge on the mangoes pieces into our mouths our bus has arrived. We were lucky enough to get seat during that rush hour. Sitting against the window enjoyed the gentle breeze. Meanwhile Aileen opened her bag and took out the mangoes and both of us gorged up the pieces in our mouth unaware of the surroundings. Disaster struck as Aileen took her first bite. A small piece of mango annoyed her jaw. No matter how hard she tried it refused to budge...As Aileen was struggling to get rid of piece I was lost in retrospection. Our stop arrived; Aileen was still engrossed in her new found unwanted task I had to nudge her to get down when our stop arrived. We got down and headed towards the shop. As we entered the shop the tailor was busy measuring a piece of cloth. We greeted him and asked if our outfits are ready. He replied in assenting and disappeared into a small room to get our stuff. By this time Aileen managed to find a seat on a bundle of clothes placed in the corner of the tailor’s shop and once again got busy in her job...This time she was struggling with a toothpick which she luckily found in her bag. Finally, the tailor appeared with our newly stitched attire. For a moment our faces gleamed at the sight of our new dresses. But Alas! It was short-lived…for when I unfolded my new dress to my utter displeasure and dismay the design was totally topsy-turvy. I lost my nerves and gazed at the tailor in horror meanwhile Aileen jumped from her place and started unfurling her dress. Her dress too had not been spared either. The tailor had made a total mess of our dresses. Aileen glanced at my frowning face and suddenly burst ed into laugh. I was taken aback and was bit amazed at her behavior. Here I stand frowning and cursing the tailor for having spoilt our expensive stuff there she was rolling into laughter. In the heated situation, I couldn’t place this reaction of hers and responded by a peal of laughter too. Amidst this Aileen cooled down a bit and started comforting me saying that the damage had already been done and there was nothing we could do about that. I was touched by her behavior because though both of us had suffered but I couldn’t stop feeling pity for poor Aileen. ‘Poor Aileen!’ Her’s was an expensive dress both in terms of price and emotional attachment as it was gifted by her mother on her birthday. Still she took the matter in a humorous way though there was some hidden pathos inside her which reflected on her face. I guess that when one is deep down in tragedy, it is best to put on a brave face and tackle it. (Though we always projected smiling faces!) Finally, after offering the tailor a peace of mind we headed towards home.

I and Lily are good pals at work and one of the few lucky ones who are always in the good books of the boss (at least that is what I think!) And by being the spoilt brats we had taken a liking to enjoying our power. One misty morning, in my office I was sitting on my computer desk and glancing through the window outside the barely visible road. Initially I thought it to be the mistiness in the weather but fate had other plans. As both I and Lily were involved in the usual girlish gossip, in walks our boss into his cabin with a sly smile on his face. We both looked at each other and then towards his cabin. I started concentrating on the paper work lying on my desk in order to check my strong urge to proceed towards the boss’s cabin. I was almost done with it and out come the boss from his lair and signalled us both to come inside. Once we were seated he stood up and gazed outside the window for sometime and here we were seated with bated breath! And slowly the revelation comes out. Heck! Even the verses didn’t take so much time to be revealed. (Of course! I say this in my mind). So the speech follows somewhat like this:“Rubin and Lily you are not aloof from the fact that one of our institutions is closing down due to heavy financial losses. Given this fact the administration has decided to absorb one of the existing members of this organization into our department. So I was recommended the name of Helga by the top management. The date of her joining will be announced shortly. Hence I was looking forward to you cooperation towards her for the proper departmental coordination and achievement of our goals”.Both of us were spellbound for a awhile as if our feet were stuck to the ground. Helga – the problem maker! That was the name she was notorious for. She was the version of one of those unscrupulous corporate ladies who could stoop to any level to have her edge. She was famous for her practice of unhealthy office politics. The words such as morals, ethics and values were not a part of her dictionary. Never in our dreams could we imagine working at the same desk with her! Slowly, we gained our mobility as the truth dawned on us. In a jiffy way we were out of the cabin. Back at my desk I slumped into my chair hearing an enraged Lily swearing beside me. I said “Calm down babe”, there is a way out of every fix. “At the moment I cannot figure out any such way”, says she. Finally, after a long discussion we decided to explain out predicament to our boss. We expressed our dilemma and told him that we will not be able to get on with her. He reassured us that he would certainly look into the matter.During, lunch hour we sat down at our PCs and intentionally started updating our Resumes and browsing through the various job sites. At the same time our boss was passing by and happened to see this. After a while he again called us into his cabin and jokingly, remarked that we need not update our Resumes and quit our jobs and told us that since, he also happen to know a thing or two about Helga, he was not interested in appointing her also he could not afford to lose two valuable employees for the same.. Hence, he reassured us that he would immediately talk to the top management and get her transferred to some other department. On hearing this we gave a sigh of relief.Next day the boss intimated us that he had done the needful and we need not worry as Helga has been transferred to other department.

Resolving specific problems..

Don’t tell me that a problem is difficult for if it would not have been difficult it would not have been a problem”I cry, I complain, I criticize but my problem is mine nobody is gonna fish me out of it. As we all know, of all the creations man is the one bestowed with the most creative mind. He has the ability to weigh the pros and cons of the problem and respond and take decisions accordingly. And isn’t it true that I am one of these beings? So this ability may be lying somewhere deep within me too. The only prerequisite is to activate this “Power of Perception”. We humans generally don’t take the pain to solve the problem but just keep on cribbing and grumbling without considering the bigger picture. Therefore, it has been rightly said that A problem can’t be solved; it can only be absolved, resolved or dissolved”.On closer inspection I find that even though the obstacles hindering me may be greater or lesser to certain extent as compared to others but they somehow relate to me. I alone possess the key to them. I would to quote a para on this context from a well known author.“At first people refuse to believe that a strange new thing can be done,Then they begin to think that it can’t be done,Then they see it can be done,Then it is done and all the world wonders why it was not done before”.You cry, the world laughs at you andyou laugh, and the world laughs with you.Adhering to this principle indeed makes life more optimistic and certainly cheerful. The crux of the matter is to tap your potential to the fullest.

Eternal Form of Energy

Energy- The word itself is so energetic. The law of physics states that “Energy can neither be created nor can be destroyed but can be converted from one form of energy into another form of energy”. Truly said!Prayer is the most powerful form of energy because in this form of energy all the entities of energy are conserved and adds to our well being. The deeper you pray the more energy you gain. Most of us are novices in prayers and doesn’t really know the exact art of praying. The Art of Praying:Praying is not a time or place sensitive. One can pray at any point of time and place. The true art of praying demands complete submission of soul, undeterred faith and tranquilized mind. It never demands scent of incense sticks, garland of flowers or candle. Let all the evil thoughts burn to ashes ……..Let the scent of all the positive thoughts fill the surrounding………Let the spark of piousness enlighten you. Offer yourself at His altar, instead of anything and wonder at the amazing spiritual inheritance you gain by such.
