Beyond Every DarknessLooking through a bat’s eye, I felt,My heart skip a beat or two.Having no light of a firefly, I griped,And suddenly nailed my feet stuck.Rising unawares of upheaval,Cold feet cloaking me,I mumbled a weak helloBut what came backTo my ears, a soundThat mirrored mine.“HELLO? HELLO? HELLO?”My hair stood erect, forWhat seemed like an unexceptional soundBecame an evil chant in the darkness.“HELLO? HELLO? HELLO?”I shut my eyes, thinkingIt would fly me into the light, thinkingI would hear a finer sound.But an utter idiot I am, forIt led me into a darker one, a placeWhere one only hearsQuietudeHell of a nightmare, it isLike cruising to Nowhere Land, seeingThe unseen, hearingThe unheard. I,Cringing and dubious, soughtEvery inch and corner of my mind, a lightThat will reveal a trail, a trailLeading into somewhere bright.Beads of sweat racing down my face, hearingNone but the shriek of silence, I stepped a foot.And another. And another. And another.Until finally I came to realize, I am walkingBecause of dauntlessness.My every step taken,A star burns out, vanishingWithout leaving trace. Going clapped-out and forlorn,Sluggish and exasperated, a pebble of lightLoomed my view.A windy sigh of relief I released, whenI neared the light and discernedA radiant place, a placeLike Utopia.That’s then I recalled a catch phrase,That goes,” What You See Is What You Get.”But seeing darkness is not it at all, forWending through it a reward it will be, forBeyond every darkness light shines, a lightCached if not unearthed.
