Neil Armstrong, the first person to set foot on the moon, has passed away at 82.
A statement from the family says he died following complications resulting from cardiovascular procedures. It doesn't say where he died.
Armstrong is best known for his historic voyage on Apollo 11 in 1969, inspiring generations of children to aspire to careers as astronauts when he became the first human in history to walk on the moon. He radioed back to Earth the historic news of "one giant leap for mankind."
