Phonemic Chart

There is a NEW phonemic chart available on EnglishClub.com. This chart features the 44 sounds of British English. It is a good idea to memorize all of the symbols. Some of the symbols are represented by the simple letters of the alphabet. For other sounds you will need to use an IPA symbol. If you don't have the correct font on your computer you can try using this resource. Check to make sure your browser works.

Over the next two months we will be adding more resources to this chart, including an FAQ, audio, and more advanced symbols. This will make it easier for teachers to share pronunciation tips in the Audio Speaking Group. You may want to print out the chart and keep it near your computer. Go to the chart on EnglishClub.com. Click on it until it is large. Print it out.

Challenge:

Practise recording all of the example words from the sound chart in a recording below. Tell us which sounds are most difficult.
