Dear Friends! Today I'd like to introduce you one of the greatest country singers in all music history. His name is George Strait. He was born and raised in Texas, a really cowboy state, and started singing being a teenager. He is known as the "King of Country" and one of the most popular and influential songwriters and artists. Since 80's he has been such a country music icon, a legend although he is still on the stage.Known for staying true to traditional country sound and cowboy look, he has won multiple awards and has the biggest-selling boxed set in country music history. I remember hearing him live at the Nashville Year Award Festival in 1996 where he got the first award. The audience applauded standing! All his songs are very famous hits but as for me, "Cross My Heart" is the best or, at least, in TOP 3. I sincerely hope you will like this great singer and composer!

Here is the script:

Our love is unconditional, we knew it from the start.
I see it in your eyes, you can feel it from my heart.
From here on after let's stay the way we are right now,
And share all the love and laughter that a lifetime will allow.

[Chorus:]
I cross my heart and promise to
Give all I've got to give to make all your dreams come true.
In all the world you'll never find a love as true as mine.

You will always be the miracle that makes my life complete,
And as long as there's a breath in me, I'll make yours just as sweet.
As we look into the future, it's as far as we can see,
So let's make each tomorrow be the best that it can be.

[Chorus]

And if along the way we find a day it starts to storm,
You've got the promise of my love to keep you warm.
In all the world you'll never find a love as true as mine,
A love as true as mine.

Enjoy!

  • It's romantic song. Love it!

  • Very nice and sweet lyrics...

  • Dear Mohamed! I am glad you like my idea. You see, like you I tried to start different interesting discussions at the beginning but it was almost in vain until I started posting blogs to pay members' attention to what I'd like to share with them. Sure, I've got your idea of this group and it is good. I often ask my students to practice in singing, at least to sing together with artists. It is very useful for improving articulation. However, it doesn't work here as most of people feel embarrassed to sing in public and it is quite understandable. But such a group is very interesting and useful anyway. Music unites people and it is one of the main ideas of EC. So, feel free using our ideas and materials writing a blog. We don't reserve our rights here (LOL!). As soon as you start, we will join you and I will ask Dan to add his songs. He is not a professional singer and it may encourage other members. So, let's try! I wish us to wake up this sleeping audience!

    • Good idea, guys! I am with you, count on me!

  • Wow! What is going on here, men?! Mohamed, dear! Don't you think it is about time to rename this discussion?! (LOL!!) OK, I am kidding! I don't mind! I am glad at least somebody is interested! I wonder that EC members are so indifferent to such good music and such great singers. We started these discussions being in hope to familiarize people with American music as we both believe that national music is the most expressive and the most understandable part of any culture. To understand any nation better we should know at least something about its culture and, in my opinion, music is the gateway to that understanding. I am really sorry, nobody is interested in this group but I have an idea how to change it. Mohamed, how do you feel about writing a blog telling about your group? I think it will work! Will be waiting for your reply!

    Have a nice day!

  • Dear Mohamed! I am sorry if I said something wrong. But I am sure, I didn't. I said what I mean. And i'd like to make myself clear. Despite being a very new member of EC, I have visited many pages and the chatroom for a few times. I saw how men chat with ladies. On the other hand, I saw a few women who swear like dockers. But I was raised in the society where any woman is always respected. My grandmother, my mother, my wife and most of women I know were or still are bosses at home and in my life. And it is good. Women are more responsible, they think differently and it is great as they see different solutions of any problem and they are often right. I am boss at work and when I get home I want to relax and to rely on my wife. What I wrote here came from the bottom of my heart as I feel so. Not to say, I am a man and I love women! It is my destiny until I die! (BIG SMILE!)

  • Dear ladies and gentlemen!  My wife is 100% right! All male singers sing for ladies only!  If I could, I would kneel down right away and sing my best songs for all women! Men, our girls are strong, independent and smart, but so fragile and so tender. If they are with us, they trust our being able to protect and support them. And it is our duty to make them feel safe and happy. I kneel down before all ladies of the world and say; if there were no women, there wouldn't be men. You  cheer us up, you lick our wounds, you give us inspiration and desire to live. I love you all and if I could, I would raise a monument to a WOMAN.

  • Well, I'd like to add one more song to this discussion. It is "I've got carried away' by the same artist. My man often sings me this song as well as "Forever  and ever" and "Cross my heart". But it is not the main reason for my adding it and telling you that. The reason is  I'd like all women to know they are unique, they are worth loving independently of anything else and our men should sing for us kneeling down and carry us on their arms. Where are you, girls from my Ladies Club?

    So, here is the song

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=up7Q01VKP40

    Script

I don't take my whiskey to extremes
Don't believe in chasin' crazy dreams
My feet are planted firmly on the ground
But darlin' when you come around

I get carried away by the look by the light in your eyes
Before I even realize the ride I'm on, baby, I'm long gone
I get carried away nothin' matters but bein' with you
Like a feather flyin' high up in the sky on a windy day
    I get carried away

It might seem like an ordinary night
Same ol' stars same ol' moon up high
But when I see you standin' at your door
    Nothin' is ordinary anymore

I get carried away by the look by the light in your eyes
Before I even realize the ride I'm on, baby, I'm long gone
I get carried away nothin' matters but bein' with you
Like a feather flyin' high up in the sky on a windy day
    I get carried away

I get carried away by the look by the light in your eyes
Before I even realize the ride I'm on, baby, I'm long gone
I get carried away nothin' matters but bein' with you
Like a feather flyin' high up in the sky on a windy day
    I get carried away

    Carried away

    Enjoy, ladies!
