Salim's Cats

Writing Challenge #13: An Interview with Salim about the Loss of his Cats.

Tara: I was very sorry to hear you lost some pets last month. Can you describe what happened?Salim: Well, cats are curious and that's what kills them.I used to have fourteen cats. A few weeks ago,one of them started to vomit and hid himself. Then,I found him dead the next day.The same happened with three other ones even if I took them to a vet he couldn't find the sickness.Tara: How are you feeling now?Salim: I'm so sad, because I raised them since their first days on earth. You feel as if you lost a part of yourself.Tara: Do you have any advice for cat owners?Salim: Yes,always look after them. Never let them get in some place where they can find unhealthy stuff.Tara: What was the most difficult part about this loss?Salim: They used to make a lot of sweet noise while playing, they used to enter from the balcony, the windows. But now,all these things are over.Tara: You must be an animal lover if you have that many kitties. Can you tell us about your other pets?Salim: I have a canary,a turtle, some pigeons, and so many goldfinches because they are so popular here.Thank you Salim for agreeing to take part in this interview. May your beloved kitties rest in peace.*Photo courtesy of Salim

  • Hi Manuela,

One problem is the phrase "made a research". Can you (or any other writer here) try to fix this?

Also, "brush up" is usually used for a skill that we have lost or forgotten. I think "just to refresh our memory" is the best way to phrase it.

    Great effort!
  • Hello Tara,
I don't know if you missed the interview or if i did send the link to the comment on Writing challenge. I still have problems to manage this website !!!

Now about the editing challenge you gave me : i can feel there is something wrong in those two sentences but i can not really tell you what. So I re-wrote them with the hope they mean what my friend Selma wanted to say.

"I made a research into the trusted source before writing path. Just for a little brush up our memory to recollect quickly."
I tried to stay as close as possible to Selma's sentences.

I made a research among trustable sources before writing them down here, just to help our memory to quickly recall.

Thanks for giving us your time.
    Manuela
  • Thanks Kieu! Hope to see both of you at #14.
  • Thank you to everyone who took part in this fun challenge! Even though I just posted a new challenge, I hope you won't forget about #13 (my personal favourite so far). Please continue to interview new friends and members and add your link here.

    Great writing everyone!
  • Salim: Thanks for helping Miki out by providing the link. It's such a fantastic interview. Please read it everyone!
  • Well, I'm not sure if this meets all of the requirements, for writing challenge 13, but I indeed had a interview with Yummy. The Interview with cat.
  • Hi Tala,
The spelling you are looking for is "whether" . :) The word "weather" is only used to describe the temperature or conditions outside (sunny, mild, humid, cool...).
This is a common spelling error, so I'm glad we could use it as a reminder here! :)
    Tara
