The Laughing Girl by Paisan Lemsan

The Laughing Girlby Paisan LemsanShe comes from the city. The girl who has white pearl skin.We greet with her language. She talks to flowers, the sky, cats and people, seems they're new matters. When she runs on the road,in the field and the rubber forest, everyone smiles at her.The girl feels glad and laughs nonstop until mom hits her.Sound of her crying looks like the laughter.Till her tears drop, she calms down.Every day I hear her voice, and as usual,we greet with her language. The laughing girltranslated from Thai poetryby Soraida

  • Many thanks Mr.Bob for your comments. The laughing girl is real. She's a girl from the capital. She came to a small town with her mom to live with her grandma and families. She's a stranger there, so she tried to get along with all people she met. Her mom didn't cruel to the girl. She just want to turn off nonstop laughter of her daughter.

This is either the symbolic or the common poetry. I'm glad you enjoy reading it.
  • Thank you for the translation Soraida. I enjoy reading it and picturing the girl and everything else in my mind. I don't enjoy mom hitting her and seeing her tears.

Is it really about a girl I wonder or does the girl represent something else? I also wonder why the mom would hit her because she seems to be a good and happy girl.
