The Best Day of My Life

Today, when I woke up, I suddenly realized that this is the best day of my life ever!

There were times when I wondered if I would make it today; but I did! And because I did

I'm going to celebrate!

Today, I'm going to celebrate what an unbelievable life

I've have had so far: the accomplishments, the many blessings,

and, yes, even the hardships because they have served to make me stronger.

I will go through this day with my head held high and a happy heart.

I will marvel at God's seemingly simple gifts:

the morning dew, the sun, the clouds, the tress, the flowers, the birds.

Today, none of these miraculous creations will escape my notice.

Today, I will share my excitement for life with other people.

I'll make someone smile. I'll go out of my way to perform an

unexpected act of kindness for someone I don't even know.

Today, I'll give a sincere compliment to someone who seems down.

I'll tell a child how special he is, and I'll tell someone I love just how deeply I care for them

and how much they mean to me.

Today is the day I quit worrying about what I don't have and

start being grateful for all the wonderful things God has already given me.

I'll remember that to worry is just a waste of time

because my faith in God and his Divine Plan ensures everything will be just fine.

Tonight, before I go to bed, I'll go outside and raise my eyes to the heavens.

I will stand in awe at the beauty of the stars and the moon, and

I will praise God for these magnificent treasures.

As the day ends and I lay my head down on my pillow,

I will thank the Almighty for the best day of my life. And I will sleep the sleep of a contented child,

excited with expectation because I know tomorrow is going to be.......

The Best Day of My Life

by: Gregory M. Lousignont, PH. D

I sincerely dedicate this poem to my friend's twin sister who died in Breast Cancer just this Monday. It was a poem written in Nordie's at Noon book, a personal stories of four women " too young" for breast cancer.

I heard few stories of her, how she suffered, how she fight Cancer, how to say I'm okey in front of her kids, etc. I almost cried and I can feel my friend's heart ache of letting go of her twin sister. I know she is in God's keeping. May you rest in peace.

Embrace each day as a gift. Each day is the best day of our Life.

  • @Ms. Tara : He really loves rap music. It shows in his nickname "Beatbox". I'm sorry for his lost.

Yeah, at times like these Music plays as a pain killer it reduces depression.

@Hani : Hope no one would suffer cancer. I hate it! Let's pray that all of us will be healthy.

  • Hi Miley,

That is a beautiful poem. I'm so sorry to hear about your friend's twin. :( Cancer reminds us again and again to live each day to the max. I lost a very good friend to cancer last week. He was 36 years old and had three kids. He found out about his brain tumour 18 days before he passed. At his funeral we were all reminded of how to live our best lives.

Music is a blessing at times like these. My friend who died loved rap music. In fact, his nickname was "Beatbox". Before the funeral we listened to an old "mixed tape" that he had made my brother when we were kids. It helped us grieve, and brought back so many memories of our youth.

    Hugs.

  • @Ms. Anele : My hubby always told me that I complain so much with the way my life running. I don't complain but there are regrets in my life that supposed to be happening now. Now, I understand what does he mean. I  should be thankful that am still blessed that I'm physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually fit. Yeah there are trials and hardship but I should not give up. I must go on despite of this obstacle in life. I'm still bless that I'm alive.

@Sistah Mayumi : Thanks for your sympathy sistah.

@Mitran : Yeah, I guess God already took her for she already suffered too much. According to my friend, it's time to let her go.

@Dinushi : Yeah, it is indeed a touching poem dedicated to all cancer patients. I got it from an inspirational book titled Nordie's at Noon. A story of four women suffered  with breast cancer. And Cindy, remind me of it.

    Thanks for the messages.

    God Bless!
