Hi MYEC friends, in this very cold winter, all of us prefer hot sweet or drinks to warm our bodies. According to every nation and culture, there are a lot of kinds of hot sweet. Let's share them with each other. You don't have to make it if it's no time, just search about its photo from the net and post it here in photo gallery with descriptions.

My hot sweet:

Its name:

It is Caraway or Carawya ( in Arabic ) referring to its main ingredient . It is made in home as it's very simple to prepare. It's a kind of spices like cinnamon. We use it in our sweet as milled or as a powder.  

It's ingredients: powder Caraway - milled rice- water - sugar.

For embellishment: rasped coconut - hazelnut – walnut  - pistachio – pine - cashew.

1- It's very healthy beside it's influence in warming our bodies in cold weather due to its spicy effect.


2-  caraway seed is the chief spice features in savory dishes.

3- It has many health benefiting nutrients, minerals (iron, copper, calcium, potassium, manganese, selenium, zinc and magnesium), vitamins (Vitamin A, vitamin E, vitamin C as well as many B-complex vitamins)  and anti-oxidants.

4- It contains several health benefiting essential oils.

5- It has a powerful role by removing harmful free radicals from the body thus protects from cancers, infection, aging and degenerative neurological diseases.

6- Its water is sometimes used in treating flatulence and indigestion in traditional medicines.

The most popular occasion to serve in childbirth parties ( just who birth baby in winter season ).

Notice: Its seeds can be stored in cool, dry, dark place in air sealed containers for many months and can be milled using hand mill whenever required. Ground and powdered caraway should be stored in the refrigerator in airtight containers and should be used as early as possible since it loses its flavor rather quickly.

    I think, it's an interesting blog! We're also having winter now! So, it's really vital to learn about popular hot drinks around the world! Your Caraway seems really delicious and healthy! Have you prepared it yourself?

    Ok, in Russia we mostly drink hot tea with lemon or with homemade jam 'varenie'. But there's an old hot Russian traditional winter drink - Sbiten! I drank it several times in my life, not very often. Now I want to prepare it myself. It's extremely healthy and delicious!


    Sbiten is a hot drink made from spices and herbs with honey or sugar. The drink goes back to about 1100 AD. Sbiten is considered a Russian national winter beverage.

    5 liters of filtered water; 800 g berry jam; 200 g honey; 2 g ginger; 2 g cloves; 1 g cinnamon…

    Bring the water to a boil.
    Then tun heat to low and add honey and jam.
    Then 5 minutes later, add the spices to the water and let steep for 5 more minutes…

    Then Serve in mugs, steaming hot… (Enjoy)

    Note: This is a great New Years drink and can be made alcoholic by using red wine in place of the water…

    PS: Wine Sbiten

    To make Wine Sbiten you need:
    1L red dry wine
    150g honey
    0.1g each – cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg

    Add honey to wine and bring to boil. Take off the heat. Add cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg and leave for 30-40 min. Strain and serve hot.
