Hello dear friends, this time I have come up with a historical blog about my dear country Iran. The blog is divided to two parts. The second part will be published tomorrow (God willing). About 10 months after the victory of Iran's Islamic Revolution (1979), a number of university students (followers of the Imam Khomeini's line), because of the large US interventions in our country and creating various conspiracies by this country, decided to occupy the the US embassy in Tehran non-armed and sit-in there for 3 days.

But after entering to the embassy and occupying there, they encountered to an unexpected scene !! ,,, Yes, the US embassy had become a safe den for spying. They found a secret room With a door similar to the safe's door for transmitting information. In that room, there were many advanced radio communication devices. Figure 2 shows the photos of that room which were taken in that time after occupation.

Fig. 2   The secret room in the US embassy including some advanced radio communication devices for transmitting data and information.

In the other room, there were a strip-shredder (i.e. a device for destroying paper documents and converting them into strips) and while occupying which lasted three hours, many of the classified spying documents had been converted to millions of paper strips by the embassy staff !! ,,, Figure 3, illustrates a strip-shredder device in the former US embassy and its output !

Fig. 3   The strip-shredder used for destroying the documents in the former US embassy.

At last the embassy was completely occupied by them and about 60 American diplomats were arrested. After that, the revolutionary students with much effort reconstructed many of the shredded documents which took several months.

Then the students, translated and published those reconstructed documents in 11 volumes with the name of : "Documents from the US espionage den" (each volume contains hundreds pages). "Espionage den" was a proper name for that seemingly embassy, after obtaining those spying documents from there and Imam Khomeini interpreted this occurrence (the occupation of the US espionage den) to "Second Revolution".

Fig. 5   The reconstructed classified documents were translated to Persian and published.

After that time until now, the US hasn't had any embassy in our country Iran. The arrested US diplomats, after 444 days were released through diplomatic solutions and returned to their country. In these 444 days, the US, two times tried to release its diplomats via military invasion ways (like their Hollywood's films!) ,,, but unlike the good results at the end of all their films they couldn't do that. My second blog on this topic, is about one of these military invasions to our country. Nowadays, the former US embassy in Tehran, has become a revolutionary museum. The following images are related to this place in current time and the last three ones were downloaded from: The Daily Telegraph

  • Dear Onee,

That's right. As a matter of fact, the history lessons us, and we must review its lessons not to forget them and to be always careful whereas the history can be repeated !! ,,, For all the disasters which the US imposed upon us, its government never apologized !!

    Thanks for your precious comment

  • Dear Mohammad,

Oh, wow....!! You told this with full of pride that shows your love for your country.

Sure, there must be the big buffetings to safeguard a country. And my concern here is.....Woww.. "Reconstruction of the shredded documents". It's so amazing. So diligent and careful they were...

I won't to say much here. But I should say...having a dangerous embassy from another country or not, there will always be a spy to spoil a country. It's good to expel the dangerous one. :)

  • Dear Noona,

I recommend you to study about the Islamic revolution of Iran in all its dimensions, it will increase your vision insha'allah.

    Thanks for your nice comment.

  • Dear Abiba

Thank you for reading and commenting despite being the problem.

  • Dear Camel,

You are right. The owner of the embassy land of country A, in the country B, is country A. But there are some points:

1- In that situation, the occupation was done informally by some students (and not the government), it was just 10 months after the Islamic revolution.

2- After occupying the embassy the spying matter became completely clear.

3- When the embassy of a particular country in our country, doesn't have any advantage but it has disadvantage, and it is harmful for our country and our nation security, then why we should want to have that !? ,,, Yes, sometimes a particular country is not our friend and we don't have any good relationship with that, but at least the mentioned country doesn't have any harm for us, UNTIL it doesn't have any harm, it could have an embassy in our country.

Thanks for your comment and stopping by.

  • Dear Hurieh, that's OK, don't worry and you are welcome.

Dear Estanis, That is right but the point is that we must read and know our history, we must learn from history, the history can be repeated ! ,,, anyway that's right, we must look ahead as well.

    Thanks for your nice comment.

  • There were several 'uncomfortable neighbors' during the Cold War. Those times passed away,
    Let's look ahead :)
  • Dear Mohammad,

It was just a lame joke. In fact, I couldn't find the wink emoticon to let you know my intention.

This is a rather long blog. That's why I associated that title to your blog. Thanks for your great blog again.

  • Dear Batuhan,

Yes, for getting the non-immigrant visas the people may go to Ankara or Dubai and for the immigration visa, they can go to Ankara, Abudhabi, Frankfort, Vienna and so on.

    Thanks for stopping by.

  • Dear Hurieh,

Mentioning "A page", as you know, is symbolic. Like when you say : "A page from my biography" and you write several pages. Yes, in fact it can be a chapter as well.

Thanks for the compliment and stopping by.
