Never judge by appearances.

The   cow  doesn't  make  the monk;  It   means   that  the wearing  of  such  garment  doesn't  turn  a  man  into  a  monk; he may  be  a rascal  diguised  as a  holy  man, a  wolf  in  sheep's   clothing.

1) Beauty  is  only  skin  deep.

2)All  that  glitters is  not  gold.

3)Appearances  are deceptive.

Explanations

1)A  good   looking  person does  not  necessarilly  have  an  attractive  character.

2) Nothing  should be judged  by  its  external  appearances.

3) Internal  reality is  often  different  from  external   looks.

In   other   words  outward  demeanour should  never be used as  a  criterion  for  assessment  of  character.
