PICTURE OF THE DAY

Okay, today is about a bit of 'Photography's History'.
This is the first known photograph of someone showing the middle finger in a picture :D

the baseball pitcher Old Hoss Radbournpictured giving the finger to cameraman, in 1886.

  • Thanks Eric, great comment, as usually :)

It's nice that this picture reminded you these days of you playing American Football and that you shared it with us here.. now we know you a lil bit more :D

    Thanks everybody for your comments.

  • Normally, when posing for a photograph with another person, I hold up my extended index and middle finger behind their head. Of course my palm is facing the opposite direction. It looks like the peace sign. In America, we call it "bunny ears"!!! lollll.. Mary, it just proves that American athletes were just as humorous and crazy then as they are now.

In my earlier days, this old man played American Football at the high school and Jr. College level. I scored a touchdown. In celebration, I ripped off my helmet and threw it into the bleachers while doing a victory dance in the end-zone. That stunt caused the officials to eject me from the game. Oh well, my team won that day by a narrow margin. That's all that really mattered.

After the game (in the locker room), my coach scolded me but had a hard time keeping a straight face at the same time. My helmet was never recovered. My parents were forced to pay for a new one. After that incident, those "victory dances" became a bit more subdued. Lesson learned.

    Great addition Mary,

    Take Care
