I always try to get my friends to blog so they get practice writing in English.  Writing your blog should be as easy as writing to a friend. I will tell you how to do it. Now you have no reason to forget to blog.

Step 1.  On your home page, click on Blog Posts (on the left below your picture) This will open My Blog

Step 2.  Click on the  [+Add] button (at the upper right of the My Blog page)

Step 3.  The Add a Blog Post page will appear with a place for your Post Title and your blog Entry

When you have finished writing, move down the page and click on the [Publish Post] button.

If you want to see what the blog will look life first, you can click on [Preview]. Then you can change it before you post it.

Is this still too difficult? Do you believe you really can't think of a title for your post and want some help?

OK.  Here is some help. If you are still having a problem, go to this website:     http://www.listenaminute.com/

A.  Now listen to some topics in English.

B.  Choose one that you like and write your blog post about it.

C.  Follow my instructions above and write something using your own words.

You must not copy the entry from another site. We can't let you take the words from another person, but you can get many ideas for topics at the Listenaminute.com website

It also gives you a chance to listen to a native speaker talk about many topics.

I hope you will now write a blog.

If you decide to write your own blog, please post a comment here so we can all find your blog and read it.

True improvement comes from practice and the people who have started blogging are improving. Please help yourself by becoming one of My Blogging Friends too.

  • Nora, everyone reading this is excited to hear that you will write your first blog. We all encourage you to do it today. It can be short and simple, but it will be yours and we will all be so happy that you are joining the bloggers.

Pick your topic and name your blog. Name it, write it and post it. Then comment back here so we can visit your blog.  I know that it will be fun and don't worry about mistakes, we will help you fix them and you will learn. Have a great day Nora and please let me know about your first blog.

  • Good!!!! I suggest that MyEC admins correct the grammatical mistakes made by ESL bloggers.

  • Excellent! Supportive blog for blogger you mentioned very necessary advices for bloggers.  Thanks for reassuming blog.

  • I wasn't going to mention any names Anele. But you were one of the ones who were stubbornly timid about writing when you first joined. Let me say here that I am so very proud of how confident you have become. The writer was always there. I taught you nothing really. All I did was nag and prod until you finally relented. When you finally started writing for us, everyone could see how talented you were.

There are others too who are "Graduates" of MyEC and have gone on to great things. I still track some of our old friends and try to keep up with their advanced studies. There is nothing I love more than seeing someone fulfill their dreams. For you it was to become a better teacher. Nobody can argue with your success there.

@ Expector Smith: I've never been too far away, just deeply involved in teaching students in person. I love visiting all of you and am trying to attract a new group of students from Japan. I always participate better when I can give assignments and see people accomplish things they didn't know they could do.
  • Terrific - nice to see you again. Welcome back, Mr. Bob!

  • You are always helpful to the newbies, Bob.

It's your spirit of encouragement that gave me the zest to pursue this activity.  You must have felt how hesitant I was when I first attempted to write a blog.

It's true the someone's support plays a great role in overcoming this fear of opening up.

That's why I always say to my heart that I am forever grateful to your sincere encouragement, Bob.  Remember, the "pineapple" topic?  hahahaha

Much has been said and done.  Thank you, Bob!

  • Thanks Mickey. I hope it does help them to become good bloggers like you are. I didn't even think about it being May Day. Here in Japan we often lose track of holidays that the Japanese don't celebrate. That is what happened today. We got busy talking about Golden Week which happens at the start of May.
  • Nice guide, dear Mr. Bob! I'm sure it's useful to new comers. And I hope more members join the blog practice. ;-)

Giggling~ Are you enjoying your May Day?

  • I'm glad it helped you Nini. I didn't know people were confused until Dani told me. I sent her instructions and she posted her first blog.

She said it was easy, so I thought I should tell everyone how to blog.
  • Thank you so much for the explain, I am a new member here and I did not know what must have to do.
