Are you ready for a NEW MyEnglishClub challenge? This time, it's a video challenge! Here's your task:1. Browse EnglishClub's Interesting Facts podcast and choose a topic that interests you.2. Take a video of yourself sharing the interesting fact that you learned (in your own words, please). You can just say a few sentences in your own words into a web cam or have a friend record a video of you. For example, “Did you know that Canada is twice the size of the European Union? Canada is also the second largest country in the world.” For fun, shoot your video on location or with a related prop.3. Upload your short video to a social media site, such as YouTube or Vimeo, and then share it here in the gallery. (If your video is very short, you may be able to upload it right here on MyEnglishClub).4. Add a description if necessary. Use the tag #interestingfact5. Share a link to your video in the comments below!Note: You can also share an interesting fact that is not from the podcast. For example, you can tell us something interesting about your own country or culture.Listen to the Interesting Facts podcast about Jamaican Patois here: can also ask me about my trip to Jamaica in the comments below!

  • This video is now on Vimeo for anyone who can't access YouTube.

  • Hi Onee-chan. Gimme is very informal in most English-speaking countries, but in Jamaica it is quite acceptable. For example, in Canada, I would never go up to a bartender and say, "Gimme a beer." I might use "gimme" with close friends or family: "Gimme the remote." (Can you hand me the remote control, please?)

  • Wah gwaan here?? :D Very interesting fact, dear Tara.

Is "gimme" only from Jamaican Patois? Isn't an abbreviation, not formal abbr? "Gimme, Lemme". Thanks and I'm ready to hear your explanation. :)

I wish I could take the challenge. ^^

  • Jamaican :|

  • @Tara

Sorry, I can't see it on FB, either. It seems I can access Vimeo. Thanks anyway!

  • What a pretty fun challenge! So very glad to see you enjoying your holiday in Jamaica!

  • @Expector, you can't see it on FB, right? I've uploaded the actual video there rather than the YT version.

  • @Marie, I think you can still order one here:

  • Tara how can I order a shirt like that?

  • @Expector - Sorry, you can't open YT videos! I'll try to find another way for you to open it.
