Jeju island is located in the sea southwest of the Korean peninsula. Jeju is the largest island made by volcanic activity in Korea so we can easily see basalt. Dolharbangs were also made of the basalt. 'Dol' means 'Stone' and 'Harbang' means 'Grandfater' so Dolharbang looks like Grandfather. Some original Dolharbangs are more than about 260 years old. Once they did as patron saints of each village.

  • Thank you for sharing something about Jeju Island. I heard your island is also included in the seven wonders of the world.
