•°● Rocking a Bye Baby ●°•

"""Rock-a-bye babyOn the tree to , When the wind blows , The cradle will rock . When the bough breaks the cradle will fall , and down will come Baby,  Cradle and all """

I used to hear this hypnotic lull to get a baby into a sleep when I was about 8 years old in cartoon , without understanding it fully, or knowing that the role of lulls in the ears of a new born baby extends the mere hypnotic influence to get them into a deep relaxing sleep while the mother enjoys her free time leaving all the burdens of motherhood behind her shoulders .
I started noticing the whole culture that claims the little infants needs to talk to or sing to . Seeing old ladies in my city rocking babies with songs claiming that a mother should tell her baby " what should he does or doesn't "
In a sitrical way . " Banah " a small fairy had the role of instructing little babies in my culture . " Banah " in the song is accountable for telling them , how to be courageous . How do they talk in a subtle language and how to stand for themselves in the face of difficulties . The lull ceremony start by holding the baby up high , singing him the songs . While the smell of beautiful incense is burning down . I always liked it when babies smile when you talk to them .

However , babies smiles and frowns has their explanation . The foxes are the reason . As my mother used to tell me : babies frown because they see a fox in their dreams this fox is trying to abduct his mother , if the fox leave his mom the baby smile . It seems to be a very funny explainanaton of " why babies smile "

By the way , their is another convincing point of view of babies cries at night . I mean the cry which isn't related to their digestive issues . That if you make a baby laugh and play alot at day time . He won't have a good night sleep . Because , they baby will start thinking of things in his little mind . I used to ask my mom with a strange look on my face . How is that !!!! And she answered babies are human . What is strange . If we had a bad or a wonderful day , don't we think of things at night .

Arab women used to have their own hand made cradles . Unlike most of the wooden cradles . Their were made of goat skin . And use to be carried with mom's whenever they go . A cradle that keep the baby close to his mother and might be hanged in any place later on .
When ababy is born he comes with his full catalogue of happy moments . People arrive with presents and food and in the 7th day his father will slaughter a sheep and give the meat in blastic bags to all of his neighbors and close relatives and give him his / her name .
I think most of us meant a lot as babies . However , people lose interest in you as you are growing up . Painfully , no one looks at your face when you are an elder person . But still inside of us all is a little baby opening his ears to lulls and songs.

I know one thing, "The Hands who Cradle, Rules the World". Isn't it?

Thanks Rosemary for such a "nurturing" "Trundling" and "Twirling" blog.

Salma  thanks for your wonderful analysis of why we feel sad ? You are right there are no one close to share our daily conversations  with  people are very busy and that is painful  . It is aganist our nature as human in the same time .

Good job Rosemary! I didn't get what you were trying to say until I reached the end. You're right, people don't look at you when you grow older because they feel you're now big enough to take care of yourself and that's exactly why people are so depressed these days. There's no one to talk to, everyone is preoccupied with his own thoughts so, people don't notice what you're going through until you breakdown.

Thanks for the education and the baby cot. Seeing it for the first time.

It must be really warm :)

Wa Allahi ajabani alblog ya Rosemary! There is always that smile we seek in the faces of our babies. The baby represents a new life ahead. The old person or the elderly one is the end of life. Of course, that is the reason why we love and prefer babies more. It is true that the elders are our originals and of course, we cannot ignore our past and our principals. Thanks, Rosemary for a nice topic.
