Perfectly Imperfect. A Soulful Prayer by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry: Teach me the art of small steps!

The text is copied from the page: https://shanglautrizo.wordpress.com/2016/05/12/a-soulful-prayer-by-.... I loved it so much. And it seemed so on time, and so useful for me at this moment. Let me share it here.

’Lord, I’m not praying for miracles and visions, I’m only asking for strength for my days. Teach me the art of small steps.

Make me clever and resourceful, so that I can find important discoveries and experiences among the diversity of days.

"Help me use my time better. Present me with the sense to be able to judge whether something is important or not.

I pray for the power of discipline and moderation, not only to run throughout my life, but also to live my days reasonably, and observe unexpected pleasures and heights.

Save me from the naive belief that everything in life has to go smoothly. Give me the sober recognition that difficulties, failures, fiascos, and setbacks are given to us by life itself to make us grow and mature.

Send me the right person at the right moment, who will have enough courage and love to utter the truth!

I know that many problems solve themselves, so please teach me patience.

You know how much we need friendship. Make me worthy of this nicest, hardest, riskiest and most fragile gift of life.

Give me enough imagination to be able to share with someone a little bit of warmth, in the right place, at the right time, with words or with silence.

Spare me the fear of missing out on life.

Do not give me the things I desire, but the things I need.

Teach me the art of small steps!

Dear O.M.

I respect when people pray. For some people, it is, as you say, a kind of meditation, for others is it a guidance through their life.
Everyone has the freedom to do what he needs for his life.
Only, I do not pray, that's all.
We, humans, are different from each other, that makes life interesting and valuable.
No matter where and how we find the right path, it is important that we act humanely.

Dear Rose,

Thank you so much for your comment. Yes, you are absolutely right, we are the only ones who are responsible for our lives and for what happens with us. For me personally, this prayer is all like a meditation..some rules that one has to learn...some instructions to follow in life. Religious people direct them to God. Less religious and more self-confident try to solve problems themselves )). I guess I do both.

Thank you once more Rose for honoring me with your visit ))))

Dear O.M.

I liked reading it. Words, full of humanity and the wish to become or to be a good human.

But one thing:

I go along with Roman. I would replace 'Lord' with 'my common sense'. I would not pray for it. It's not just because I am not a religious person. I am much more convinced that it is up to us. If we only ask or pray for it, we always find excuses if we fail. What we do isn't our fate. It is our free will and our decision. We have to learn that we have to take responsibility for everything we do. Without any excuses. We have to learn and do those things...step by step.

I know it was written by A. de Saint- Exupéry, but you posted it! I found it very useful too.  Some sentences are just wonderful and convey peace.  I have read it more than twice!    Thanks again Olga!!!!

That is a beautiful prayer Olga, full of wisdom! I think life gives us so many things everyday: sorrows, joys, some of them expected and others inespected....and we have to learn how to face them steep by steep. So what your blog says about the art of small steps is so true.   The good thing is that we are never alone!

Thanks for sharing!!! Have a nice day.
