Years ago, a campaign to make people aware of abandoned pets started in my country mostly on summers. Media keep on remembering us nowadays but still I wonder how a dog which is supposed to be loved can be left with such a cold blood, with no feelings or remorse.

That puppy that was once bought by a parents to please their daughter for Christmas grew up, as a result it is now an impediment for the summer holidays, for their moving to a new house, for its maintenance... whatever the reasons are, Why the hell didn't they thought it before!?

I like dogs and I'd love to have any but I also know what owning a dog means and surely I couldn't take care of it properly and that's what everyone should ask to themselves before taking a step. (Now I'm thinking also applicable to children but that's a different story)

Let's say this is a call for all those who think that animals are simply beautiful presents.

Hey Olga, it looks really interesting, thanks for the link! I'll bear in mind. I think you like movies or topics with such background :)

Janeth... actually I've thought of this dog and the movie in this blog and I'm glad that you took the time to introduce and tell us the story, thank you!

I watched it some time ago, Richard Gere made a good role, so touching.

...these are the real protagonists.

Oh Paula... you have such a kind heart. What ever became of this world without people like you :)

I can't make this nice labour you do but admire them and of course get my approval. Well I don't have any pet now, with two sons is more than enough :D

Thank you for sharing this chapter of your life Paula.

Such a sad topic but this is our cruel reality.

Some people accept pets as toys. When toys are old they throw them away.

Great topic Estanis!   You are right, if someone gets a pet, he or she has a commitment to take care of it.  We cannot be cruel with our nature!

While I was reading your interesting blog, especially when I read those touching words: "He would never do it"....something came to my mind inmediatly.   A story -maybe you already know it- of that famous and loyal dog called Hachiko.

Hachi was a dog that lived in Tokyo with his owner, a professor. Every morning, they walked together to the bus station where the professor took the train to go to his work.  Then, at 3 pm that train came back and Hachiko was there on time, waiting for his beloved master.

One day the professor had a stroke and died at the university where he worked and he never came back.  In spite of that Hachi went to the train station to wait for his owner.......the loyal dog returned day after day at the same hour, hoping to meet with his master. Hachi did that every day during almost 10 years until he passed away. He never abandoned his master. What a great example!

That incredible dog was a symbol of loyalty, fidelity and hope because he never gave up in his purpose to find the professor again.

People in Japan and from all over the world were touching by that remarkable dog!  There is an statue in his honor in Tokyo too.

So, I though that...He would never do it, as Hachi never did!  Amazing pet indeed!

Thank Estanis for you blog. Your words helped ut to we aware of the importance of taking care of animals and pets!

Have a great weekend!

Hi Estanis….great subject.  There are no bad dogs.....just bad owners.  I have rescued animals for years...….I cannot count them.  I still have 6 that live with me.....3 German Shepherds, an English Bulldog, and two chihuahua's.....they are my heart no doubt.  I have thought many times over if I could get my hands on some of the people that mistreat animals …..oh well you get the idea...…..you don't have to like them to not mistreat them.  I would not trade my animals for anything......and the subject has come up a time or so...….they are way more loyal than people.  To me it is pure ignorance when someone gets a puppy without considering what it needs, and what a responsibility it is.  When buying  a particular breed......they do not check the nature of this dog to see if would be a good fit for their lifestyle and their children's...…..I do not condone buying a dog.....there are way too many out there that are great dogs and need homes...….I could go on and on and on.....but I won't.  I love cats also.....and have raised many of those little guys on bottles and such so they could be adopted by good people.  Take care all and have a great day!!!!

So snails... some could take them as an appetiser rather than pets, but who could eat them with such makeup?

Agree with your quote.

They're not abandoned on the way, but they died for not getting feed. Better release them? :((

@Rosemary... incidents are unavoidable.

We had to give a rabbit to a pet shop since it used to eat the wires and scratch the furniture. It was not good idea :/

Thanks for reading.
