Wow! That's a lovely potted viola! By the way, that's a wick (a piece of string) used to water the plant and even prevent the plant from over-watering or drowning which usually leads to root rot... :P
Hi Rosemary! To be honest I don't know if it grow in the wilderness, because I don't pour the water right on it or in the soil in witch it grows. I pour the water in the plate below it. I will show you how it works later.
