This beautiful island is situated on the river Volga near Saratov. I can see it even from my window but the view is not so impressive. This photo was taken from Sokolovaya hill near my house. I think it’s quite clear why the island has such a name. There’re a lot of trees and other plants on it. Also there’s a boating station there. We keep our power boat there. It’s very convenient as it’s not far from our house. Also there’s a yacht club for children and a lot of tourist camps on it. The view is really fascinating when a lot of different yachts can be seen around it. It's great that you like the Volga! It's really so powerful and beautiful! But you're right it terribly needs conservation as it's very pollutted now! The main reason is dumping industrial waste into the river. It’s a big problem nowadays. At the moment nothing is done for improving the situation.

There're no residents living there, only those who come to have a rest ( numurous different activities to any taste). There're a lot of tourist camps there, so you can rent a house or live in a tent for some days. Many people do it. We aren't accustomed to luxury, so do it with pleasure ( for a short period).
