  • reminds me of the summer that i miss so much

  • We have the similar situation in Ukraine. Nobody tries to destroy those dangerous weeds.... they say they need a lot of money and so on and so far.... And the hogweed is a winner! A conqueror of  new territories! It looks like a disaster!

  • :D I'm just so damn smart. :P

Well that Sosnowsky's Hogweed have been invading to here too. I remember, some past years it have been in tv. some few times.. How to fight against it and things like that. I think the government, or some whatever institution was mapping the places where they grow, and then they were destroying them.. I think it had to be cut down and then some chemical poured inside the root stem, so that it would not grow back.. or if possible, the root had also to be removed.

I think There was also a case, were someone got badly burnt, when cutting grass with grass trimmer, while not wearing any protective clothing.. just shorts, or some similar extremely estival clothes. So he had got very badly burnt.

  • Oh my goodness! You know everything! Yes, it's hogweed! And it grows everywhere in my place. You are right - it's very dangerous! You can receive deep burns if you touch the leaves.... Many years ago this hogweed was brought into Ukraine from Siberia, because somebody very VERY "smart" decided that this plant would be good fodder.... but it turned out to be a real aggressor.

  • No, Tetyana. I'm not sure what weed it could be. It first reminded rhubarb. But, I think it's not rhubarb. The leaves are different, and I think the flower is actually different too.. Beside, u would probably not call rhubarb as weed. So, maybe it's some kind of Hogweed(Heracleum). I'm not familiar with all the types of hogweeds.. but the leaves are similar, like those of some hogweeds have.. Well, I just hope, that it's not "Sosnowsky's Hogweed"... That one would be pretty dangerous. I would not want to go too close to it. ^_^

  • Hi Hardy!

Yes, please! I'm about dandelion salad. I make it from time to time.

Happy that you enjoyed my weeds. Welcome to my kitchen garden and you'll see different kinds of them! Haha! And, of course, all of them are for you, my dear friends, including mint, nettle and the plant with large leaves which I suppose to be burdock!

And one more weed! Do you know what it is?

What about those mints flowers, Tetyana.. did you give those to us too? By the way. I could find 7 different weeds from your photo. Dandelion, then some grass(couch grass, I suppose). Then some other weeds whose name I don't know.. some nettles at back there.. then some other plant with larger leaves.. this makes 5 well there was some more.. But I already forgot them. LOL
