Waisak Day

Waisak Day is the Buddhist holly day. The Buddhist follower to celebrate the anniversary of Buddha Gautama. The festival commemorated when the fullmoon. Three major historical events are celebrated on Waisak such as: the first is the birth of Siddhartha Gautama. The second is the acceptance of the divine revelation under the Bodhi tree. And the third is the journey of Siddhartha Gautama to heaven. The Buddhist follower called Tri Suci Waisak. In Indonesia, the largest Buddhist temples, Candi Mendut and Candi Borobudur, both located in the Magelang Regency of Central Java not far from Yogyakarta, are the focus of interest and attract those observing the holiday and tourists. Buddhists celebrate Waisak by praying to their God to thank his blessing for creation in the earth and maintaining the earth in harmony. It is very common for Buddhists to celebrate Waisak with the presentation of fruit, flowers and candles.

Kuningan Day

Ten days after Galungan Day Balinese Hindu followers will celebrate the prosperity day of "Kuningan". Kuningan, which falls on Saturday (Saniscara), is the day when Gods and Goddesses accompanied by the holy ancestral spirits (pitara) come down to earth again to bless the people and the universe. It is believed that they will return to heaven in the midday. On this day, Balinese people do self-introspection by doing a meditation for human's prosperity. To the Balinese Hindu followers, the Kuningan Day is a time for commemoration say thanks to the gods for his mercy to the human races.Balinese Hindu has temple festival at Sakenan Temple, one of the big temples in Bali. Sakenan Temple is located in Serangan Island, known as Turtle Island. Situated in southern part of Bali, Turtle Island is one of the most favorite spot for surfing.To reach the temple, you can go by boat or cars or bikes. If you go by car or bike, you will pass a bridge linking the Serangan Island and south of Denpasar. It takes you around 15 minutes drive to reach the temple.As usual, the religious ritual will attract lots of foreign visitors. We maked banten with yellow rice. So that way the names celebrated is Kuningan.

Galungan Day

The day commemorated as the victory day of "Dharma" (virtue) upon "Adharma" (evil) according to the old history of Bali. This day the Hindus thank the God and feel grateful for His blessing and for the creation of the earth and its contents.There are several processions need to be done to celebrate Galungan Day:Three days before Galungan is the penyekeban.On this day, people begin to prepare the necessities for the Galungan ceremony. They collect fruits and store them in a special place until they get ripe.Two days before Galungan is penyajahan.People keep on maintaining awareness, patience of the soul in order to control the demons. People have to cook various kinds of Balinese cakes for the ceremony to come.One day before Galungan is penampahanThis is the day to slaughter sacrificial animals like chickens, ducks or pigs. People cook them into various kinds of Balinese food, such as satay, soup, lawar (a special Balinese food made of meat or vegetables, mixed with coconut sauce).On the Galungan day, Balinese Hindus go to temples and other holy places to pray. People are dressed in colorful Balinese costumes. Women carry the banten, while the men and the children walk with them.One day after Galungan is manis galunganOn this day, Balinese Hindu communities usually visit their relatives, friends and neighbors. They forgive each other and remain together. It is also a day to relax and visit places of interest, after the long days of preparations for the celebration.

The City

The city in the past more clear than nowdays. The street was not as crowded as it is now. At that time, the street is very quiet, no traffic on the street. A lot of trees in the road side made our body healthy and fresh.At that moment, I went out on foot. I usually go by bicycle to around. But now, the city very crowded. The mass transportation in my city doesn't really help since it service quality is very low. The people loved to ride motorbike and car. Most people rarely want to use public transportation.Denpasar is the small city, but it is actually very crowded. Many people living there. Also it seem the population always keep increasing there. Most people from village decide to move there.How about your city?

It is important for sex education to begin at a young age. Giving young people basic information from an early age provides the foundation on which more complex knowledge is built up over time.For example, when they are very young, children can be informed about how people grow and change over time, and how babies become children and then adults.Young people get information about sex and sexuality from the media including advertising, television and magazines, as well as leaflets, books and websites . There are a lot of way of learning. Every individual has or her own preference of way of learning. A person may like to learn in quite place, but another person may like to learn by listening music at the same time. You may like to learn by tutorial, but your friend may like to learn in a public school. Your brother may like to learn in own country, but his or her friend may like to learn overseas. Some one may like to learn individually, but the other may like to learn in group. Some people may like to learn regularly, but some others may like to learn when an examination time comes close.

Ayam / Bebek Betutu

Ayam or bebek betutu (roast duck/chicken ) is one of the most famous dishes in Bali. Balinese people themselves may cook it for a special occasion. Some restaurants in Bali offer bebek betutu.Ingredients• 1 duck or chicken• 10 shallots, peeled• 8 cloves garlic, peeled• 2 stalks lemon grass• 4 kaffir lime leaves• 4 candlenuts• 1/4 tbsp ginger, peeled• 20 fresh turmeric, peeled• 15 kencur, peeled• 5 chilies (up to you)• 1 tsp. black peppercorns• 1 tsp. coriander seeds• 1 tsp. shrimp paste• 2 tbsp. salt• 3 tbsp. oil• banana leavesInstructionsPlace the shallots, garlic, lemon grass, candlenuts, ginger, turmeric, kencur, chilies, peppercorns, coriander seeds, shrimp paste, salt and oil in a blender or food processor. Grill into a paste. Clean up duck or chicken until without quill. Rub chicken or duck with seasoning. Wrap the duck or chicken in banana leaves orwith aluminum foil. Steam the duck oe chicken for 50 minutes. Put the duck or chicken in a roasting pan and roast until done.

Nusa Penida Island

Last month, my friend and I went to Nusa Penida island. The place is part of Klungkung Regency, one of place in Bali, Indonesia. Nusa Penida has many interested place. Special, there is one of biggest temple in Bali " Nusa Dalem Ped Temple" . The temple has magic soul and good for spiritual activities like doing meditation.That is the first time I visited Nusa Penida. We went by Bounty Cruise. We left Benoa Habour at 10 am and arrived at 11.30 am, near from Nusa Dalem Ped Temple. The passenger must move to small boat. I am very scared, because was raining and the wave was very big. Althought, we need only 5 minute, it was very excited.When we was in boat, we continued the trip. The wave made boat jinggling up and down. I said in my heart "Oh My Godness, help us." It was very frightening. The trip just need 15 minute to the temple, but it was very impression. Blessing for the God, we arrived safely.I had just only 2 hour there. I didnt have time walked around place, or try traditional food there. I didn't more get time in touch with original people there. My time just enough for praying. Bountry Cruise already waited us.I got a lot experience in Nusa Penida.
