what my 5-6 kids should know in

I always wonder what my two sons should learn in kinder garden to be able to attend the first grade with an enough amount of knowledge and skills.

Glig Graphics

Not all kinder gardens care about what their students gain by the final term and what skills should they get .. So, I preferred to search on the net to know what I should teach my kids in home as homeschooling in additional to their kinder gardens lessons.

Glig Graphics

I found that by the end of the year, my kids should learn :

  • Cut along a line with scissors.
  • Establish left- or right-hand dominance.
  • Understand time concepts like yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
  • Know the eight basic colors: red, yellow, blue, green, orange, black, white, and pink.
  • Recognize and write the letters of the alphabet in both language, (mother language and English) in upper- and lowercase forms.
  • Know the relationship between letters and the sounds they make.
  • Recognize sight words and read simple sentences.
  • Spell his first and last name.
  • Retell a story that has been read aloud.
  • Show an opinion through drawing, writing, or speaking (e.g. “My favorite book is…”)
  • Identify and be able to write numbers from 0 to 20.
  • Count by ones and tens to 100.
  • Do addition problems with sums up to 10.
  • Do subtraction problems with numbers 0 to 10.
  • Know basic shapes such as square, triangle, rectangle, and circle.
  • Know their address and phone number.

Glig Graphics

Now, I am so happy because both of my sons know all of these skills by my activities to them in all weekends, but what I have taught them more:

  • Count and write (Arabic) numbers from 20 to 0 in descending order
  • Write the missing letters in (Arabic) words.
  • Solve mazes and jigsaws
  • Write the previous number to any number I give to them.
  • Join and separate letters of words (in Arabic).
  • Give the English meaning of more than 50 Arabic words.
  • Put on and take off their clothes by themselves.
  • Clean up their bedroom toys.
  • Go out alone to buy something (in the neighborhood).

Glig Graphics

Finally, may you advise me about some more skills that my kids should know and learn, and I didn't mentioned them above ??!!

Have you ever felt a huge power or a huge depression inside you but you didn't know why or how have you got it? Do you feel that you like some people more than other or disaffect from other? Do the positive or negative emotions, feelings and circumstances build the positive or negative personalities? Have you ever asked yourself if you are positive or negative person? Do you feel that there are people who you don’t really have a choice as to whether they’re in your life or not and you are forced to deal with them?

Positive or negative attitude, thinking, and behaviors by you, can tell you if you are positive or negative one. You can test yourself to know what kind of person you are. But before testing, let us identify these two kinds: positive person and negative one.

Identification:

Positive People: They are successful, self-confident and optimist people who acknowledge negative circumstances, but chooses to be positive, then think wisely of how to change the situation. They are not jealous or upset by the success of others, but  genuinely pleased when they see others succeed. They see the success of others as an inspiration, and  use it to motivate themselves to achieve bigger and better successes. They tend to see problems, and  failures as temporary, and isolated occurrences and take them personally as opportunities to learn and grow.

www.positive-people.co.uk

Negative People: They are "Energy Vampires" who are going to appear in and out of your life. Maybe they hate their job, feel frustrated, feel trapped in their life or they lack in self-esteem. Therefore, the only way they can feel powerful is by hurting others. The negative people are simply seeking to get a reaction from you. If they catch you in their web of negativity they will start draining your energy. They are a drag on your goals, your ambitions and your life and career success.  They are quick to tell you what you can’t do, offer little encouragement, and hate to see you prove them wrong by succeeding. For a pessimist, there is always something to worry about, and bad events that seem to last forever. Life means fear and sadness most of the time to them. They tend to see problems, and failures as permanent things from which you can’t escape and even personalize them.

www.Life-With-Confidence.com

How To Save your Positive Energy

  • Remember that the negative behavior is a reflection of them. It tells you what kind of people they are and what issues they may be dealing with. It's not a reflection of who you are. So, Say to yourself, "What a poor person he is to be unhappy. Maybe some of my positive energy will pass to him. If not, his pessimism has nothing to do with me". This isn't always an easy thing to do but definitely a powerful technique to save your energy from being drained.

  • When they tell you some tragic story, say to them, "now tell me a positive story". By that, they may actually realize that being negative isn't the kind of person they want to be and may start to work on becoming more positive.

http://www.wisdomquotesandstories.com/

  • Beside, you should be grateful to these people because they're giving you the "kick" that you need to recharge your energy.
  • The best advice is to hold tight to the positive people in your life and run – as fast as you can – from the negative ones.

www.bestquotes4you.com

Finally:

When we allow ourselves to think negatively we damage our potential in many ways. The worst thing is that we may be so wrapped in negativity that we cannot even see that there are ways out. On the other hand, Some people prefer to focus on positive thoughts, even though they acknowledge their negative ones. However, there is always a choice. The important point is your awareness of your own thoughts; then you can decide which type of thoughts you want to focus on. Make a conscious choice to spend time with positive, optimistic people.  Avoid negative, pessimistic ones and you’ll be on your way to creating the life and career success you want and deserve.

Sedra… My Newborn Niece

Three days ago, on Saturday, it was my newborn niece birth. She is my sister's second daughter. It was a happy occasion to see this soft creature after waiting nine months. If my sisters, brother, and my parents were so eager to see her, how about her mother and father. They are so happy to have another daughter with -of course- tiring feeling of her mother. When I saw my sister for the first sight in the hospital, my eyes filled with soft tears for knowing and remembering  how it's so difficult to be a mom; how she bears an extreme pains to see her baby. Now let me introduce her to you:

Glig Graphics

Her Birthday:

Saturday/26/01/2013 at 01:00 pm.

Glig Graphics

Her name:

Her name is Sedra which is mentioned in Quran and means: "Tree in heaven at the right hand of the throne of God".

 Glig Graphics

Her family:

Father, mother, and sister called: Sana.

Glig Graphics

Her aunts preparations for her birth:

Her aunts, ( my sisters and I ), prepared some arrangements for her birth like decorations and wrapped up sweets. It was my task to decorate her room and guests room.

I used  pink balloons, ribbons, and pink chiffon fabric. My sisters task was to buy chocolates and wrap them up using circular pink fabric and pink satin ribbon to tie the wraps.

My another arrangement to her birth is bitter orange oil that I prepared last year because it should be matured (like wine). It's so simple to prepare, just cut the immature bitter oranges, fill them with olive oil and keep it away for more than 10 months. This oil is very benefit and useful for newborn babies who suffer from colic. Its usage is not by drinking it but by anointing the baby abdomen especially around the hub. So, mums could sleep now :D

 Glig Graphics

Her aunts gifts to her:

My elder sister's gift is a small bed with a stand to move easily. It's very beautiful with nice decorations and off white color.

My gifts to her is a special box of clothes. The box has ten pieces of clothes - including under wears - that baby requires to wear them in first birthday or first week.

These are the clothes after I  separated them from the box

My younger sister's gift is not for Sedra but for her sister Sana. It's a baby that speaks, drinks milk, and does pee-pee :D So, she could feel like a mum :D

My sudden visit to my parents home

Today, I am in my parents home, sleeping there with my kids since yesterday.I free myself to express my feelings during this sudden visit. when my pregnant sister herself called me yesterday to invite and encourage me to leave my home for two days to join her in her visit to my parents home, I felt happy. The idea itself is good to act with no doubt. Because, I will go there to be with her in last days of her pregnancy. My kids enjoy themselves with their cousin " Sana ", playing and laughing. My mum herself celebrates us gladly, trying to make all tasty meals and snakes snacks to enjoy ourselves. My dad persuaded himself to traveling out country for working until Thursday, so, my kids and my niece could play noisily with no complaining by him. He always frowns at them selves when they make any naughtiness especially in his own living room where there is a library with a lot of books, that were bought by my parents themselves. My pregnant sister " Noura ", is in her ninth month pregnancy. she is very worried and try to prepare all her new daughter by herself. She helps herself to have easy birth by walking and relaxing by doing breathing practices. My visiting itself to my parents is intimate especially when I remember my life with mum, dad, sisters before getting marriage. But my problem itself that here is no PC, only my single sister laptop to use. She doesn't allow anyone to use it even her sisters themselves. So I allowed myself to beg her to allow me to use it. Due to there is no time to draft my blog to erase and edit it, I tried to write my blog here directly. I forced myself to be so careful about grammar and spelling, wishing you to like it. I consider you rselves as guarantors to correct my writing and giving me your sincere comments.

My Real Nationality:

Dear MYEC friends, I'm so sorry to tell you that I'm not From Egypt. I'm from Damascus – Syria.  I'm not a cheater but somethings shameful happened with me that made me change my home country here in EC. First of all I wanna tell you that I can't bear acting like liars, I feel guilty when I see how all of you think that I'm Egyptian where I'm not. I didn't wanna disavow my home country, It's just a necessary reaction toward what happened to me, so read my story and understand me, please.

Glig Graphics

Why?

When I set up my home country here in my profile, I intended to start a new page in my studying book. To start a new way in my improvement. But after a few days I faced many problems. First, were injurious photos on my profile. They are very shameful Pornographic images. I knew that it was a hacker on my profile. I restarted my PC and reopened my page, but the result was the same. I thought to ask one of my friends to open my  page to know if she will see the same or not, but how I could ask her to see what is shameful to see. So, I thought that I should leave this web site with full of sadness inside me. How I can leave the place where I find myself in ! I didn't access for three days then I tried to solve this problem logically, I tried to change my internet browser, so, I didn't see anything. The solution was to download an ads-block to that  browser. Second,  I faced many opinion against me. They biased against my nationality as a Syrian. They asked me how the people in Syria were killed and I'm here having fun. I couldn't respond them. I wanna tell them that I'm one of them; one of that poor people. I feel guilty when I eat  while they are hungry. When I feel warm in home, while they are cold. Feel guilty to laugh, sleep, playing with kids, and enjoying my life. They don't know my internal feeling and how I'm suffering. I'm one of them who the bad circumstances covering my life to. But I believe in this saying: " People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are. I don't believe in circumstances. The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and, if they can't find them, make them ".

Glig Graphics

I Chose Egypt :

Map Your Mind!

Have you ever studied a subject or brainstormed an idea, only to find yourself with pages of information, but no clear view of how it fitted together?

This is where Mind Mapping can help you.

Definition:

A mind map is a diagram used to visually outline information. It is often created around a single word or text that placed in the center. Then, associated ideas, words and concepts should be added. Major categories radiate from a central node, and lesser categories are sub-branches of larger branches. Categories can represent words, ideas, tasks, or other items related to a central key word or idea.

It is a useful  technique that helps you learn more effectively, improves the way that you record information, and supports and enhances creative problem solving. It can be drawn by hand, either as "rough notes" during a lecture or meeting, for example, or as higher quality pictures when more time is available.

By using Mind Maps, you can quickly identify and understand the structure of a subject. You can see the way that pieces of information fit together, as well as recording the raw facts contained in normal notes.

Moreover, Mind Maps help you remember information, as they hold it in a format that your mind finds easy to recall and quick to review.

 Glig GraphicsGlig GraphicsGlig GraphicsGlig Graphics

Lean More About Mind Maps:

Mind Maps were popularized by author and consultant, Tony Buzan. They are more compact than conventional notes, often taking up one side of paper. This helps you to make associations easily, and generate new ideas. If you find out more information after you have drawn a Mind Map, then you can easily integrate it with little disruption. Besides, "Mind Mapping" helps you break large projects or topics down into manageable chunks, so that you can plan effectively without getting overwhelmed and without forgetting something important.

Glig Graphics Glig Graphics Glig Graphics Glig Graphics

How it Helps you:

A good Mind Map shows the "shape" of the subject, the relative importance of individual points, and the way in which facts relate to one another. This means that they're very quick to review, as you can often refresh information in your mind just by glancing at one. In this way, they can be effective mnemonics - remembering the shape and structure of a Mind Map can give you the cues you need to remember the information within it. As such, they engage much more of your brain in the process of assimilating and connecting information than conventional notes do.

Glig Graphics Glig Graphics Glig Graphics Glig Graphics

Mind Maps are useful for:

  • Brainstorming - individually, and as a group.
  • Summarizing information, and note taking.
  • Consolidating information from different research sources.
  • Thinking through complex problems.
  • Presenting information in a format that shows the overall structure of your subject.
  • Studying and memorizing information.

Glig GraphicsGlig Graphics Glig Graphics Glig Graphics

How to Draw a Basic One :

To draw a Mind Map, follow these steps:

1. Write the title of the subject you're exploring in the center of the page - with picture or not - and draw a circle around it.

2. As you come across major subdivisions or subheadings of the topic (or important facts that relate to the subject) draw lines out from this circle.

3. As you uncover another level of information, draw these as lines linked to the subheading lines.

4. Then, for individual facts or ideas, draw lines out from the appropriate heading line and label them.

5. As you come across new information, link it in to the Mind Map appropriately.

Finally, a complete Mind Map may have main topic lines radiating in all directions from the center. Sub-topics and facts will branch off these, like branches and twigs from the trunk of a tree.

Glig Graphics Glig Graphics Glig Graphics Glig Graphics

How to use Mind Maps Effectively:

Follow these suggestions to draw impact Mind Maps:

Use Single Words or Simple Phrases:

Many words in normal writing are padding, so , single strong words and short, meaningful phrases can convey the same meaning more potently.

Color Your  Words:

Use Color to Separate Different Ideas. Color can help to show the organization of the subject.

Use Symbols and Images:

Pictures can help you to remember information more effectively than words, so, where a symbol or picture means something to you, use it.

Glig GraphicsGlig GraphicsGlig GraphicsGlig Graphics

Example:

Glig Graphics Glig Graphics Glig Graphics Glig Graphics

Conclusion:

Mind Mapping is an extremely effective method of taking notes. Not only do Mind Maps show facts, they also show the overall structure of a subject and the relative importance of individual parts of it. They help you to associate ideas, think creatively, and make connections that you might not otherwise make.

Glig Graphics Glig Graphics Glig Graphics Glig Graphics

Your Role:

If you are interest in this method, and you have some notes, facts, information to study and memorize or even problems to solve. Now, it's your solution. So, do the following:

1- On a piece of paper, draw your own mind map ( using colors, picture ).

2- Post it with a description as a blog with a title ( for example: Mind Maps: My Plans for 2013 ).

3- Leave a comment here with a link for your blog.

My Lost Ruby Ring:

My Lost Ruby Ring

Long time ago, I wondered why I love ruby jewels. Why I feel obsession to their red shine. Why I have many incessant images about them especially a ruby ring in my deep memories. I didn't remember anything about that until my mum told me the whole story. The story in my own childhood related to that images in my mind .. about that ruby ring. So I will tell you that story: when I was five years old, I went to the final party of my kinder garden school. My mum dressed me up the most beautiful clothes and adorned me with golden necklace, two bracelets, and a very beautiful golden ring with a very shiny ruby. That ring was very special and valuable to my mum. It was her own, a gift from her grandmother when she was a five-year old girl, too. Its glimmer made every girl in my class envy me. One of those envious girls was very clever. She told me a false story about her poor family and their poverty. She cried a lot and begged me to let me give her my jewelries. So as I am so generous and have a childish mind, I donated all my jewelries to her. she was so clever - as I said before - to deceive me, but that was not the only problem. When I returned back to my home, my mum got upset and angry. She felt so sad about her precious ring. She asked me about that girl's name and home address. Unfortunately, I didn't know anything about her except her name: Loujain. That was the second problem. The third one but not the final was in the school itself. It was the last day in my school as i mentioned before, so no school days any more. Forthwith, my father called the school administration and talked with my teacher. She gave him my friend's home address ( fortunately  just one girl called Loujain ). Then my parents went to her home to get back my jewelries. First she alleged that she didn't take anything from me. Then after my parents insistence, she gave them back to my parents. But regrettably, the ruby ring wasn't included with them. She stole it and claimed that it wasn't with them. My mum felt disappointed and sad for more than three days. And as I was a little child, I didn't value that ring. I didn't know its real value, not its high-price cost, but its intangible value. It is a mix of sweet memories and happy events that happened during many years. By my childish mind, I thought that it is like any of my toys that if I lose it, I would get another one. But after I grew up, I discovered that when something valuable gets lost, that means we lost that mixture of sweet memories and happy events.

What I have learned from this story that we should keep the sweet memories things away from children until they grow up well to save them and value their worth. Don't lose anything you borrow from anyone, because none knows the real
value of the valuable things except their owners.

It's so painful to lose something valuable, so have you ever lost anything worthful  ? share it here
