Falling Asleep

Hi Everyone!

I hope your week is as happy as the happiest butterfly. :))

Have you ever fallen asleep not at the right time?? Or how often it happens?? Last time, I fell asleep while watching a speech on YouTube. Something uncomfortable happened 'cos I had had a promise to have a call with a friend in my two hours of sleeping. LoL...

My worst experience about falling asleep was when I attended a forum with one speaker in front of the listeners. We were sitting on the floor and there was a divider device between boys and girls. After the speech was over, the forum dismissed, and the divider was removed. Poor me! All friends left me alone sleeping there. How embarrassed I felt that time! It was when I was a junior high school student.

The most dangerous one. A few years back, on the nearly desolate road, in the darkness of evening, after a tiring trip, I and a friend of mine went home. He was riding a motorbike and I was behind his back. On the way, he said, "For a while, I don't remember that I am here." "What?? Let's stop and eat!", I responded. .... In other time, one of my friends had an accident in the same case with her brother. They got wounded and my friend couldn't walk well for a month. So, I was really grateful that I was fine. Nodding off while driving is indeed dangerous. We could fall asleep in the accident.

According to me, this sudden sleep indicates that one doesn't have problems of insomnia. It shows how comfortable and peaceful a person can sleep anytime, sometimes everywhere. However, it could make something unwanted or even dangerous happen. How do we cope with that? Not all people can consume caffeine.

I guess almost all people experienced falling asleep not at the right time. What about you? Would you tell us your experience about that?

Definition

Fall asleep: to yield to tiredness and begin to sleep; change from a waking to a sleeping state; euphemism to die. (thefreedictionary

Nod off: fall asleep, especially briefly or unintentionally. (oxforddictionaries

Falling asleep also means just usual thing when you tried hardly to sleep at night and you finally fell asleep...(change from a waking to a sleeping state, go to sleep). But here, It mainly means cease to pay attention, dictionary.com.

KEEP SHARING AND PRACTICING ENGLISH! :)

Have you ever experienced something more than you usually ever did before? :) That could be something surprising, something weird, something embarrassing, or even something scary which you can't forget until today. How about writing a story about it in TEN SENTENCES exactly? :)

How to do? You just need to write a blog with the title "Ten Sentence Challenge: My Unforgettable Moment".

Today, I remember one experience in my childhood. Remembering this, I always wonder how that could happen. ^^ This is my first entry:

What can a 5 year-old girl remember? I was with my mother in the clinic. Being afraid of doctor, I refused to accompany her into the examination room and chose to wait in the waiting room. Seconds, minutes, and hours....I was not able to understand them. What I felt was I had been waiting in the waiting room for so long that I thought my mother had come out through another door and left me. "Mommy...., please don't play hide and seek at the moment and tell me where you are...!", I said those words in mind. I was crying and panicky while walking outside, far enough to find her until I reached the police station. I was lost and I didn't know well what had happened. Finally, my mom found me there and I cried louder, happily hugging her. Many years later, I knew that my mom of course didn't go anywhere but in the room, I had only been there waiting for about 10 minutes, and I had only walked on the road passing through five houses in distance. lol

Thank you so much for reading. I'd be glad to know your opinion. ^_^

Keep writing and participating in writing challenge. Now your turn! I'm expecting you.

Have a wonderful week! ^_^

Hi everyone! I hope your week is as delicious and sweet as these dishes. :)))

Ramadan is near to the end. I was so busy that I couldn't write much in this month. However, I planned to write about this not long ago. :)

I'd like to tell you why I gave the title above. It's true that these these sweet dishes could be eaten or drunk in other months. However, in Ramadan, a lot of seasonal vendors will appear at every road which many people or vehicles pass by, especially near traditional market or town square. They sell various kinds of sweet drinks or snacks two or three hours before iftar

Who cares about dessert or appetizer? No body would prohibit us which one to eat first. We get used to consume sweet dishes as the first menu for break fast. ^^

NOT ALL of these dishes are Indonesian sweet dishes. However, you can easily find all these dishes during Ramadan in Indonesia OR where Indonesian people sell food, and MOST IMPORTANT, we're talking about delicious sweet food. :p :D So, let's start with the most popular menu. )))

1) KOLAK PISANG (banana kolak)

Related imageRelated image

picture sourceshttps://www.pegipegi.com/travel/5-fakta-unik-yang-kamu-harus-tahu-soal-kolak, http://www.foodris.com/product/246130/kolak

This Indonesian dessert is based on palm sugar or coconut sugar, coconut milk, and pandanus leaf. Beside banana as the main ingredient, we can add many variations such as  pumpkins, sweet potatoes, jackfruit, plantains, cassava, and tapioca pearls. This can be served warm or at room temperature. However, in this tropical country, not a a few people eat this dessert with iced cube, we call this ice banana kolak

2) ES CAMPUR (mixed ice)

Related image

Picture sourcehttp://www.agrowindo.com/peluang-usaha-es-campur-dan-analisa-usahanya.htm, https://www.foody.id/bandung/es-campur-pa-oyo-cimahi

The ingredient consists of shaved ice, coconut, various fruits, grass jelly, syrup, condensed milk. In fact, people made many variations for this. They sometimes add some other ingredients as well. This Indonesian dessert is not only very popular in Ramadan, but also in other months.

There are two other similar dishes. Please check yourself. ES DOGER -  ES TELER. I'd like to post only the pictures. :)

3) [Immitation of] ES KOPYOR (kopyor ice)

Related imageRelated image

Picture sources: http://www.momylicious.com/2014/07/es-kopyor-imitasi.htmlhttps://www.pictasite.com/hashtag/KOPYOR

To make the real one, you need kopyor coconut, coconut water, coco pandanus syrup, and shaved ice. Dredge kopyor coconut and mix all of them. Done! However, kopyor coconut may be a little expensive. That's why, many people make the imitation one. The ingredient will be mixed with water and jelly. People made plain jelly (colorless jelly) mixed with coconut milk to make the same texture and taste like real kopyor. This one is also very popular menu especially in Ramadan.

- * -

The following two are non-Indonesian origin of dessert drinks. But they are very common drinks in my country, much consumed especially in Ramadan.

4) ES BLEWAH (blewah ice)

This is very easy to make. You just need to buy blewah (kind of cantaloupe), then shave it. Mix with the sweetener (sugar dissolved in water or melon syrup) and water. If you want a bit cold, just add ice cube. So easy, right? :)

5) ES CENDOL (cendol ice)

Picture sourcehttps://marymemasak.wordpress.com/2016/01/10/es-dawet-es-cendol/, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GiMxPTD3OJY

This is commonly found in South East Asia, wiki. Es cendol (or dawet in Indonesian) is an iced sweet dessert that contains droplets of worm-like green rice flour jelly, coconut milk and palm sugar syrup. It's easy to eat this. You don't need to chew it, it will directly go to your stomach. lol

Honestly, there are more dessert and sweet drinks but let's stop here. lol

Some info are from wikipedia, modified.

Mini dictionary (en.oxforddictionaries.com)

Hi everyone! ^_^

Checking photo collections in my netbook made me think of the words for the pictures. However, I found it not too easy to find the correct words. What about you? I've checked the answers. The answer of each picture is one English word except number 5. Let me know your idea or guessing. :))

* Participants have already found the answers and I wrote them at the bottom of each picture. Hence, you can guess yourself before looking at the answers. Thank you. ^^

1. This is the easiest one. What is the color of the pen beside dark grey and maroon?

ANSWER: NAVY

2. What is the word for the cup-shaped object in this picture which used to roast chicken and corn? Well, this is actually not its function.

ANSWER: MORTAR

3. Please guess the word for the object by the arrow.

ANSWER: OTTOMAN

4. This one can be burned. What do you think it is?

ANSWER: CHAFF

5. He is sitting on the bench and shaking it, so what kind of bench is this? The answer would be three words.

ANSWER: SWING GLIDER BENCH

So, how is it? Do you know the words I asked? Let me know about it. Thank you so much for your time.

Have a blessed new week! ^_^

Honesty vs Sincerity

* H O N E S T Y *

Once, I found a startfruit seller tried to deceive my elder sister by reducing the weights. But, I made her fail in doing that. I smiled knowing it and said, "Ma'am, it is still a half kilogram to reach 5 kg." -This was kind of dishonest way to earn money which make others be in loss-

A few weeks ago, I bought two packs of pen and a boardmarker. After counting the charge myself, I knew I should pay IDR 44k and I gave old man a sheet of IDR 100k. What a surprise! He gave me IDR 74k as the change. I asked him the price of each item once again, I was right. Three times, he gave me the incorrect amount of change and I returned all to him. "Sir, it is still too much." He counted again with an old stuff, calculator, and he finally got it. -I just wonder what if he dealt with dishonest people? He would be in loss.-

Long ago, when I was a student. I dropped my wallet somewhere (I wrote this story in another blog) which contained almost a million rupiahs and all my important cards. I was so confused and a bit depressed as it was an organization's cash. But, I still remember I always faced the day with smile even laughs, a cheerful face. :) Kept calm and praying. Two days later, a parker of campus who was very old announced that he found a wallet. I was asked about the contents. I can't forget that amazing moment. He returned my wallet with the complete contents, without taking any of it. -I felt so great to see that man with great honesty-

An honest person says what they should say and does what they should do.

* S I N C E R I T Y *

Remembering bet's discussion about hospitality, I'd like to tell one real story. Let's name two people Xoxo and Xaxa. Xoxo was a very hospitable person who would always gave all dishes available whenever a guest or guests visit her home. One day, Xoxo and family visited Xaxa's house for a wedding party, but Xoxo came before the exact time (invitation schedule). The committee and Xaxa were really busy and they didn't take a great concern to Xoxo's family as there were too many guests. However, they got normal servings. On the way home, Xoxo and family grumbled, "I felt disappointed. they only served and welcomed us so simply, so lightly. How could Xaxa do that? We gave them anything we had when she was a guest in our home" -Mentioning own's good deeds and expecting something in return is called insincerity-

The last story I would share is about someone who helped others. Let's name him Dada. He was an honest trader that it made him be liked by many loyal customers in his village. He also liked helping and giving charity to the ones who need. There was a poor blind old man who had no family anymore, let's name it Dudu. As neighbor, Dada routinely gave him food everyday. He visited Dudu himself, fed him, and treated him like his own father. However, Dudu always backbited Dada in front of Dada because Dudu didn't know at all that it was Dada who had been helping him all time. Dada knew that Dudu didn't like him at all. So Dada always had a companion who would talk with Dudu while he was feeding Dudu. Dudu always said, "DON'T GET CLOSE WITH DADA! I tell you, HE HAD DONE TERRIBLE THING that made people like him. STAY AWAY FROM HIM!". Despite the hatred of Dudu, Dada kept helping Dudu sincerely, as Dudu was one who needs Dada's help. -Giving a favor without expecting something in return, even getting mockery and still doing good deeds, this person has reached the highest level of sincerity-

If your heart gets the call to do kindness, then never doubt.

***

Honesty and sincerity are taught as civic lesson to 2nd graders in my country. However, practicing them is somehow not easy for most people. I hope you got the different meaning of both words. This was actually a blog requested by ELF Noor and Luci a few months ago. :)

I'd also like to share some quotes related to honesty and sincerity.

Whoever is careless with the truth in small matters cannot be trusted with important matters.” — Albert Einstein

Honesty is something you can’t wear out.” — Waylon Jennings

Avoid dishonest gain: no price can recompense the pangs of vice.” — Ben Franklin

Sincerity makes the very least person to be of more value than the most talented hypocrite.” — Charles Spurgeon

Sincerity may be humble but she cannot be servile.” — Lord Byron

Be sincere with your compliments. Most people can tell the difference between sugar and saccharine.” — E. C. McKenzie

Sincerity is not to say everything you think but to mean everything you say.” — unknown

Sincerity is an openness of heart; we find it in very few people; what we usually see is only an artful dissimulation to win the confidence of others.” — La Rochefoucauld

Thank you so much for being patient reading my long blog. Please let me know your idea.

Have a super beautiful new week! ^_^

the Second Date

One day, at 07.00 pm, a sweet new couple was on their second date. The girl was with a sweet white blouse and a knee-length maroon checked skirt. She put high heels on her feet and beautiful pendants on her ears. The boy was with jeans and black t-shirt. They entered a restaurant and accidentally met a group of boyfriend's friends. They greeted them and she felt really awesome. After a while, they had their table, number 28, second floor.

They ordered their menu. They were waiting for the order by talking each other of course. What do you think they talked as they were a new couple? lol. The girl wanted the boy to sit beside her as she would feel near to him, not in front of her as she would feel far from him. What a sweet reason! lol Okay, the dishes had been delivered after a while. They ate the dishes happily, even fed each other sometimes.

The clock showed 09.00 pm., they didn't realize that all the guests had gone home except they and another couple. The restaurant was actually about to close but they let those two couples enjoy their date. lol. After some minutes, another couple went home before them. They paid the bill on the first floor and went home. Then, their turn to pay the bill, the last customer. The waiter gave them the bill and they froze for a while, I mean they were surprised. The boy whispered to the girl, "How could it be so cheap? We ate a lot". The girl replied softly, "Wait, let me have a look! This is the bill for the table number 30. They had gone home and paid DOUBLE charge for our order." "So, what to do?", asked the boy. "It's okay, the restaurant won't be in loss. Just pay the bill given and let's go home", replied the girl.

After paying the bill given, they ride home while laughing out loud.

A Study Tour

Dear MyEC friends, ^_^

I'd like to share a story about my study tour long ago. lol. [I feel like a hundred-years woman]. First, please enjoy this! [I'm sorry, only picture. lol]

Related image

The study tour was visiting an instant noodle factory. Back then, I remembered that many people were discussing about instant noodles which contains wax. People should take out the water of the first noodles boiling which looks turbid to remove the wax. In this way, it is safer to eat them.

After visiting the factory and knowing how noodle were being processed, I found something that changed all the wrong concepts of noodles in mind.

We found that noodles we usually see in the market have been processed in a deep frying to reduce the water content and to make the noddle durable. In this way, the noodles become half-cooked. The oil (we presumed it as wax) absorbed by noodles will be released together with carbohydrate when they are being cooked again.

In conclusion, I'd like to say it is not wise to believe, to judge, or to spread made-up news with own's logic BEFORE knowing the information from the related parties. Get the information properly and do research thoroughly, then you can decide, not otherwise participate in spreading hatred. What do you think?

Have a great new week! ^_^

Good morning everyone!

I guess you already know that our photo Mod, Grace, relinquished photo moderator. She had been a photo moderator for years, I'm not sure how many years exactly, anybody knows? :) Since I became a member of MyEC for almost four years, she always inspired me and many members (I'm sure) to be active in photo section. Her photo challenges are really super creative and oftentimes she greatly appreciated members' photos. Her positive posture and warm friendship really touched everybody's heart, didn't it? She has to leave for some reasons. But, you don't need to worry, she said all would come to an end and she would be back as long as her time is available. :)

In this blog, I would like to say BIG THANKS to Grace ...for her all great efforts on MyEC ...for being so patient in approving a bunch of photos ...for informing members how uploading photo works ...for appreciating members' photos ... for her warm friendship with everyone ...for her time ...and for everything she's done as Photo Mod. Lots of love for you Grace. Please visit us anytime whenever possible. ^_^

On the other hand, our old photo moderator has come back. Let's welcome her, Nadiyah. :) Grace and other old members must know that she was a creative photo mod before. So many thanks for being our photo mod once again. Looking forward to learning photography from you, dear Nadiyah. :) Some of you might have already noticed that she has two IDs. Well, I've just asked her and it was because she forget the old ID to sign in after leaving MyEC long ago. lol. (Sorry Nadiyah, I have to tell. ^^) One of her great work on photo becomes a good example on Photo Guideline. :)

Once again, many thanks for your willing to help MyEC again in moderating photo.

Welcome Back and CONGRATULATIONS, Nadiyah! ^_^

Many thanks to everyone for reading. Feel free to say anything for them. :)

Have a great Sunday!

"At the 44th minute of the football match, Huda tried to save the goal from the threat of Marcel, but his chest was hit by the leg of Rodrigues. He was still able to move, but then he fell unconscious. A few hours after being brought to the hospital, this goalkeeper died. The victory of his team (2-0) was filled with tears and hysterical weepings of the members and passionate fans of the team in the stadium." (real news, happened in my place, few months ago)

Ridha, a housewife, watched that shocking news on TV with mouth opened. She remember her only son, Afan, was practicing football with his friends of age thirteen. She waited his arrival anxiously.

When he arrived home, his mother hugged him and asked if he was alright. He just wondered why his mother so suddenly behaved strangely. She then told him to stop playing football and change the extra-activity into music or else. He couldn't believe that his mother would tell him so. At his very labile age, he had so big heart to finally follow what his mother wanted.

He joined music courses for a few months. His playing with keyboard, guitar, or drum was not so good. It was obviously seen on his face that he didn't enjoy the activities he did. His father noticed it and approached his son asking if he still wanted to play football. He couldn't deny that 'yes' was the answer.

His father was thinking so hard to come up with an idea. He tried to talk with his wife, but no good result. Her apprehension about football players was truly serious.

One day, Afan got an accident when playing piano. The cover was suddenly closed as the props were broken. He lost two of his fingers.

His mother and father felt really sad. Afan just mused of his life in gloom. He was not so good with music, then it was even worse with only 8 fingers, he was thinking deeply. His eyes told their parents so. His dad finally said to mom, "Dear, there is a risk in every activity. We should give him a chance. At least, let's make him happy, giving him a way to reach his dream." Then, his mother approved of his husband's premise.

The big smile appeared with tears on Afan's face. He really thanked to his mother. He promised to make their parents proud as he dreamed to be a National Football player, and join Football World Cup someday.

How to Report An Issue [edited]

Good morning, everyone! :)

I'd like to share a piece of information to dear new members or members who haven't known how to report an issue in MyEC yet. Hope you read this blog attentively.

First, know and learn thoroughly all the rules in MyEC on this page "Why Was I Banned?". Read each point of 18 reasons carefully how a member could be banned.

Second, if you think a member has broken the rules, go to the member's page, click "Report Member" at bottom of page, and fill in form your reasons to report and send.

Before sending your report, choose one type of issue. The issues are categorized into six types. They are...

  1. Adult (relates to something sexually suggestive),
  2. Abuse (when you found a member using bad, disgusting, insulting, or taunting language and you feel offended),
  3. Bug (relates to technical problem),
  4. Fraud (when you found fraudulence or something counterfeit, like deceiving or impersonating),
  5. Spam (disruptive online messages, especially commercial messages or links posted on member's wall or as comments or status in MyEC), and
  6. Other.

To complete your report, (not necessary for some issues) please include the link of post or screenshots of the issue. The screenshot can be uploaded on dropbox.com, then copy and paste the link in the form. Explain your reasons why you report that member, not a long one.

Here is an example for you:

Now, what happens when you report a member? This is actually one of Frequently Asked Questions in MyEC. So, let me quote the answer here....

What happens when I report a member?

Thank you for taking the time to report a member that you think may have broken MyEC rules. MyEC admin will review your report and take your concerns into consideration. Action will be taken as appropriate. Please understand that it is MyEC policy not to remove content based solely on religious or political grounds. If you do not include a URL of the member's page or content, we cannot take any action. (The name of the member is not enough, as many of our members have the same name.) Complaints about chat room abuse should include a screenshot of the conversation.

* * *

Your report will be very useful to keep this site comfortable and peaceful. So, let's make MyEC a comfortable and peaceful place for learning.

NOTE: Only report when you really have good reasons.

There are ways to ignore problems in MyEC without reporting a member.

  1. When you feel bothered by someone in private ChatRoom, you can click on the member's name and in the pull down list at the bottom.....click on IGNORE.
  2. When you feel bothered by someone (a friend in the friend lists) who was constantly messaged you, you can go to member's page.....click BLOCK message or simply REMOVE as friend.
  3. When you don't like any posts but you don't have good reasons to report, then .....simply just IGNORE the post.

You could write in the comments if you have more questions. Thank you very much for reading.

I wish you a peaceful and wonderful month! :)

Writing Prompt ~ Double Letters

A Terrible Day

It was at midday, and the weather was hot. I went to the kitchenette to find something cold to drink or something sweet to eat, but nothing. I was mulling over the best solution for the problem I faced. Confronting hagridden and callous persons is an unforgettable moment to me. What maddened me that day was their foolery which could harm other people. The hunger I felt deteriorated the dizziness in my head. Before something else aggravated that hullabaloo, I decided to take an immediate and appropriate step. In doing so, I had to fill my stomach first to get much energy. But once again, no food at home. I tried to call a chauffeur to take me to my favorite restaurant. During the trip, it made my mouth water  imagining grilled carp and avocado juice. It also appeased my mind...... To my deepest disappointment, it closed, and no food stall around either. What to do? I tried to eat dessert in the desert.

Mini dictionary:

eat dessert in the desert: be comfortable in hard time.

So, how about writing your own Terrible Day? Use at least ten double letter words to write a story in blog section. If you wish, give correction tag to get corrections from other members or teachers. Keep practicing to improve your English!

Thank you for reading my blog. I hope you find it useful. ^_^

The existence of gadgets inevitably affects our life, especially our eyes. Many people now work with gadgets almost all the time without having enough rest for eyes. Myopia or hypermetropia is not a problem anymore since the existence of concave-convex lens for those eyes disruption. But, who could hold the pain or headache when one feels so tired on eyes?

I, myself, have no eye problem. But sometimes, I need to work with laptop all the time for some days. I got some problems for some moments. Those days make me think about how to avoid getting eyes problem. It succeeded, I experienced it.

So, here are my tips:

1) Never read or write in the dark. :)) Of course I mean "Don't read or write or using computer in the dim light". If you do, you will make your eyes work harder, easily tired and strained. Later, you could feel pain or headache. In long term, some studies said it could lead to hypermetropia.

2) Limit or manage time for eyes on seeing the screen of gadgets. Every 20 minutes, you can take at least one minute for your eyes to rest. You can either close your eyes with your palms or see something else around you. It is good if you can see greenery.

3) Drink enough water and eat much fruits and vegetables. Some studies found that drinking water improve your good vision and memory. I guess you know that carrot is very good for your vision. But you can also choose the other ones which are also rich of vitamin A, such as mango, avocado, tomato, guava, watermelon, orange, grapes, apple, spinach or green vegetables, etc.

4) Wash your face and/or flush your eyes several times a day. Beside cleaning your face from any dirt, water can refresh your tired eyes. Believe it or not, your eyes can be more relaxed and the strain on eyes will be reduced.

5) See the greenery and water waves more. There's no proof for this, but some people said it could help based on their experience. I also experienced it. At least, you can walk outside to see nature. It will really refresh your eyes.

6) Have enough sleep. Several times, I ever really worried about my headache, strained eyes, tired eyes. I gave eye drops but no better result. Then, I took a rest, had enough sleep. After that, I wondered "where's my pain before?" lol. YES, having enough sleep will keep your whole body healthy.

Those are my tips. Of course there are many other tips to keep our eyes healthy. If you would like to add, please feel free to share here.

Here are a few more tips from other members of MyEC.

Bet's --> When we read or write anything on computer we should make the articles/words bigger.

Mishaikh's --> Wash your hands, sit relaxed and cup you both eyes with your palms so.  The palm should not touch the eyes and the eyes should be kept open.  Close your eyes in such a way that no light comes in.  Sit in this position as long you can.

Grace's --> Simply put a warm, wet cloth on your eyes to ease discomfort.

Roman's --> Stand in front of the window or if you are outside, then in front of something close to you, at the level of your eyes, like a tree, bush or pillar. And look for some 5-10 seconds, first on the thing, that is close to your eyes (or on the small dot on the surface of the window) and then on the furthest place from you, that you can see. And repeat this exercise for 5-10 times.

Thank you so much for reading. ^_^

My Tips on How to Keep Your Eyes Healthy

Good morning, dear Learners and Teachers, Newbies and Seniors. ^_^

How are you today? I hope you’re pretty well. Have you learned new grammar or memorized new vocabulary today? How great to see there are many games these days. I'm sure it will enrich our vocabulary. :))

To boost our English writing skill, I'd like to invite you to practice writing with grammar “not only…but also...”. I’m sure most of you already know this. It is simple just to say "you're beautiful and smart", but this 'not only...but also' is usually used to emphasize the second statement. So, the task is to write a blog using this grammar. You can write a dialogue, a short story, a letter, or even a poem (I'm not sure if it would be good, but wanna try? :) You can also add some new vocabulary you learned in your blog.

Please write the proper title in your blog. Of course you can add your own title after that. Example: Blog Challenge ~ Not only…but also: Dialogue in the Main Room. In case you don’t want to write this kind of title, please include the link of this blog at the top of your blog.

Most important! Please write the words “not only but also...” in bold in your writing, like in my example dialogue.

Here are the example sentences I provided for you. You can find more information in your grammar book or internet or Teacher Dan’s blog as I haven’t found this in EnglishClub, yet. The point is the words after not only and but also are the same part of speech. As usual, I hope not only learners but also fluent teachers or English Native Speakers will participate. ^_^

Sample Dialogue:

The King and The Minister

The Prime Minister: Your Majesty! There are lots of problems in this country. Many people are not only suffering from hunger but also dying of the plague. We run out of not only food supplies but also water. What should we do, Your Majesty?

The King: Minister! How could you just tell this to me now!! This is not only shocking but also shameful.

The Prime Minister: Your Majesty! My apology to say that it is because you’ve been precoccupied recently. You were not only hunting in the forest but also enjoying the hot springs. We didn’t have courage to disturb you as you were relaxing.

The King: You’re wrong! You should have told me. I would have left all my contentment.

The Prime Minister: You are truly merciful, Your Majesty!

The King: Take 10 boxes of gold out of the royal warehouse! Not only will we import  the necessary groceries to meet the urgent requirement, but we’ll also make an appropriate plan for domestic irrigation of these items and extend your help to the farmers in this respect. This is an urgent matter.

The Prime Minister and other ministers: Your grace is immeasurable, Your Majesty!

Now, your turn! I hope you enjoy this blog challenge.

Thank you for your time. Have a great week & Keep blogging! ^_^

5 Things I Learnt from My Parents

Dear All Friends, Hope everything is well with you.

Let me share something that impressed me about parents. We all know that we can't choose which two persons would be our parents. Sometimes, we don't have the same thought or we don't like some of their characters or decisions. However, parents are the first two persons that closest to us. Moreover, if they raised us with patience and affection. Here, I want to share the best things I learnt from them.

1. Their Perseverance and Tenacity

They started their new life from zero to hero. They used to live on the street in their early marriage, they sold newspaper, then firewood, and so many experiences in trading. My father was also a good singer and uncle was a guitarist. They used to sang on the streets and public transportation to earn a living. Family's life now is much better. I'm just proud of their perseverance and tenacity.

2. The Great Patience of My Mom

I think she is the most patient woman in the world. She also never complains of anything. She also keeps the family united.

3. Forgiving

As far as I know since I was a child they have none to be their enemy or someone they hate. There is no 'enemy' in their dictionary. Well, if ever one made them enemy, they would do less and keep doing good to him/her. They proved that everything would be back to normal or even much better.

4. Loyalty

At their age now, they are so loyal to each other. Both had been through the surgery room. I remember they accompanied each other and felt a great loss when one was sick. How sweet they are! ^_^

5. Simplicity

Despite their capability, they live in a simple way.  They don't buy anything unnecessary or excessively. No luxury. When I was a child, I objected to that. Now I know what they meant.

***

I believe these great lessons could be a good example for me and probably you. How about your parents or someone who raised you or the nearest persons in your life? Would you share what you learnt from them? Please feel free to write here or post it as blog. :)

Thank you for reading! Keep your finger cross! Wish you a wonderful January! ^_^

Dear all MyEC Members, ^_^

I guess you've already noticed the feature changes on MyEC. It's about text editor. Not a few members here wish coloured text and various fonts in text editor are back. First, this is a confirmation from Mr.Josef,

The fact that we just need to accept this made me want to share a few information about HTML Editor. For your information, I'm not an expert in this field, ^^ I just know a little about that. However, I got some additional information from friends here and Mr. Josef.

1) To write COLOURED text

<p style="color: teal;"> Good morning! :) </p>

Lazy to write or think about it? Just copy and paste to HTML Editor. This will be the result: Good morning! :) Then, change the text 'Good Morning! :)' with your own words.

You can change the color by replacing teal with: gray / silver / red / blue / navy / green / yellow / fuchsia / purple.

If you want more colors, you can visit this site anytime --> http://www.color-hex.com/color-names.html ;

#ee1289 is my favorite color. :)

2) To write with other FONTS.

<p style="font-family: comic sans ms;"> Good morning! :) </p>

It would be like this: Good morning! :)

To write with other fonts, please look theme fonts into your Office Word. :)))

Here are several fonts for you: Arial Black, Tahoma, Comic Sans Ms, Arial Narrow, Book Antiqua, Kristen ITC, Harrington, Lucida Calligraphy, Tempus Sans ITC, Georgia.

3) Combination

<p style="color: red; font-family: comic sans ms;"> Good morning! :) </p>

That would be like this: Good morning! :)

You can also add other edit like background-color. Remember that 'p' means paragraph and 'span' is for words in paragraph. See this example!

<p style="color: #ee1289; background-color: lightyellow; font-family: mv boli;"><strong>Good morning, everyone! Happy learning! Enjoy your stay in MyEnglishClub. :)))</strong></p>

Good morning, everyone! Happy learning! Enjoy your stay in MyEnglishClub. :)))

Got it?? :))

4) Coloured text between the paragraph

<p>Do you think <span style="color: blue;"> learning HTML </span> is not interesting? </p>

It would be like this: Do you think learning HTML is not interesting?

The main thing is you just need to change 'p' with 'span'. :D

5) Online HTML Editor --> https://html-online.com/editor/

The last, the easiest way to write colored text. :)) Just write there, copy the HTML code, and paste in HTML Editor on comment box. BUT I don't see you can change the fonts.

The link was given by Muhammad A. I'm sure he knows better and more in this field. :))

* * *

I hope I make an easy explanation for you. I know some of you will be lazy to listen to HTML lesson. lol. See more detail in Muhammad's blog. Info from Mr. Josef is here. If we ever got colored text back in text editor, it wouldn't be complete as we learn by ourselves. So, I hope it would be useful. Thank you so much for reading. :)

Let's hope some others who are expert in this field will add and share their knowledge here. ^_^

Now, I'm looking forward to your colorful comments and blogs. Please feel free to ask. ^_^

Here is a short video how to edit colorful comment through phone.

Life's in "Messa di voce"

Messa di voce is a musical technique that sung or played at a quiet volume, gradually and smoothly made louder until it reaches a high volume, then similarly made quiet again. (wikipedia)

When I was so active in singing activity, I liked this word "messa di voce" a lot. One day, I was observing the drizzle outside, but suddenly it was a heavy rain, in a minute, drizzling again. So, I said to my friends, "Hey, this rain plays messa di voce". They were all laughing. "Hahha...well, well, you can say so..." ^^

Well, what about life? this life is unpredictable, though you have a plan. Today, we could find so much happiness, we spread pure smiles, everything we see is just very nice and warm to our heart. But tomorrow, by a big matter to nothing, you could feel everything is changed, no precious at all. Our smile seems different. No matter how hard you try not to care. Today, we could feel so distressed, 'buried', so lonely, feel the dejection in social, or anything hopeless. We could face it by silence and patience. But, by a smile of an innocent child, by a spirit of people who cherish us, by the wisest words that given to us, we could face the world again and start the day with pure smile. Then, repeat again and again. That's the life.

It's inevitable that our life is always like that. There are always problem and pleasure in life. Coming and leaving, in turns. We could face all days with smile. We could play the expression of 'messa di voce' in our life with smile, always smiles. So, what do you think about it? Have a cheerful smile everyday! ^^

Thank you so much for reading.

"Have a wonderful December!" Keep your finger cross! ^_^

WEEKEND DIALOG with A FRIEND

ME: I can't take it anymore. I know I still have many things to do. But just today, let me rest my brain.

FRIEND: What?? NO!!! You don't need to do that. If you feel that dizzy, you could remove your head and put it on the table. When you feel any better, you can reset it again.

ME: I can't believe that you'd have such a great advice. But please, excuse your stupid unconscious friend! Can you help me do that?

FRIEND: Of course. You can have a rest here in your comfortable bed. I will take care of your head and won't let it alone. There are crowds of turkeys on the table will accompany you.

ME: Oh, thank you so much, my friend. You're the best friend I ever had. :D

(She is helping me remove my head and is still talking to me as I am so nervous)

FRIEND: Oh My God! I didn't think your head is so heavy. Your forehead is scorched and darkened. Is your pain that great?

ME: You see. You now must have understood why I wanted to rest my brain. Hoo....

(She walks while her two hands are holding my head, but ..... after holding the heavy head for a little while, she feels her arms become numb and she drops them on the floor)

FRIEND: I'm sorry, my friend. I've tried my best.

// I can't imagine the next story.........LOL........Please imagine yourself OR maybe you have an idea. Please write in the comment. ^^ Thank you. //

Continuation dialog from Roman

FRIEND: I'm sorry, my friend. I've tried my best. Let me pick up your brain with my legs. But you know, it is not easy for me to do that.

ME: Ok, take your time. But after that, bring me please my cat. My brain is relaxing faster when my cat is lying close to me.

* * * * *

The first two lines were real dialogue with my friend. We just have a great sense of humor. :D And ONCE, about a month ago, my forehead really looked scorched and darkened after I had given it aromatherapy oil. It was when I had a severe headache. LOL.... I thought "Oh God, I found that my brain may get burnt by a lot of work". I had been sleepless those weeks, so the best panacea was sleeping more. I also treated the wound with bee oil for a quick recovery. LOL.

Thank you so much for spending your time to read my blog. ^_^
