3 Free English Training Sessions

All available online, from the comfort of your own home

Hello, and happy day to you! I wanted to do a quick post and tell you about these online English webinars that I am co-hosting this month. I am excited to share these opportunities with you because they are free and will all provide you with a unique learning experience. Plus, if you’ve never “met” me, then this is a great place to do it because all of them will include a LIVE Q&A (question and answer).

So first let me explain what a webinar is. A webinar is a word that has been combined from WEB (internet) and SEMINAR (a meeting with training and instruction); so the word webinar means an online based meeting with some training and instruction. If you have never been to one, you should! They are great! I have been to many, as well as hosted a few!

Here are the details for January’s free training sessions:

*IMPORTANT NOTE: ALL OF THESE SESSIONS ARE LIVE ON THE DATE AND TIME LISTED BELOW; HOWEVER, IF YOU CANNOT MAKE THE LIVE EVENT, YOU CAN STILL REGISTER AND RECEIVE THE VIDEO REPLAY TO WATCH LATER.*

Hello 2016! WELCOME regular followers of English Outside the Box and WELCOME to English Outside the Box if you are just joining. 2016 is going to be a great year, full ofso much English. I will be making some changes, don’t worry it will be for the better, as well as sharing some exciting new projects. All of this means more opportunities to teach you English. YES!

Today is an exciting day, for a few reasons.

  • It’s the very first post of 2016.
  • It’s the very first post of my new blog schedule
  • This post will help you understand a very common error for non-English speakers
  • After today, you’ll speak better, more confidently, and best of all Use Better Grammar. (<–p.s…. that’s the name of my grammar course)

Understanding causative verbs in English, or more specifically the verbs make, have, let, help, and get, will help you explain and talk about situations where the verbs are not just done by the subject of the sentence. Remember, in English, the active structure (which is most commonly used) is when we have a SUBJECT doing an ACTION (verb).

Do you want examples?

See the full lesson + 5 Minute English YouTube video on the blog now: http://bitly.com/causative-verbs

And if you'd like the BONUS video, extended with additional examples and a review, then sign up for English Outside the Box's newsletter. You will get so many helpful learning tips and resources. See you there! http://bitly.com/get-free-english

It’s that time of the year, folks. 2015 is winding down (*coming to an end*), and we are all eagerly (*excitedly*) waiting for 2016 to arrive. What will happen this next year? What will we do? What will we accomplish? These questions aren’t the big one though. The burning question, and probably the most common small talk conversation starter around this time, “What is your New Year’s Resolution?”

In case you’re not sure of what a New Year’s resolution is, let me fill you in (*give you the details*). A resolution, according to Merriam-Webster Learner’s Dictionary, is a count noun meaning a promise to yourself that you will make a serious effort to do something that you should do. Does this ring a bell (*sound familiar*)? If you’re still not following along, maybe some examples will help you:

This year, in 2016, I am going to…

go to the gym more, eat less sugar, learn a new language, lose weight, go to Yoga, take time for myself, find a foreign language conversation partner, read more, watch less TV, call my family more, take more vacations, learn 10 new vocabulary words a day, improve my grammar, etc.. etc..

Sounding more familiar? I bet by now you are saying,

YES! I have said some of those things, or heard my aunt “____” say some of those things.”

We can’t avoid thinking about these resolutions and promises, because the information and push (*motivation*) to do make them is everywhere. Throughout today alone, this article popped up in my Facebook feed (why do the Kardashians seem to be (almost literally) everywhere?!), then I saw this one, and this one (<- I will admit this TIME article was interesting ;) ), and even numerous e-mails from others telling me what they’re changing for 2016. I thought, well, enough is enough!

Don’t get me wrong. It’s not a bad thing that we want to improve ourselves, or make “better” choices; however, I think that setting a New Year’s resolution just is not the smartest and most effective way to do it.

Why are New Year’s Resolutions ineffective?

Visit www.jenesl760.com or click here to keep reading...

I'll also tell you what to do instead of NY's resolutions. Don't forget to tell me in the comments about your plan and goals! See you in 2016!
