Writing Challenge : Uncountable Nouns

This is the first time Iparticipate in EC Writing Challenge, I want to say a few words about it.

First of all, I want to thank Ms Tara for everything she does! It was very interesting, I read again about countable and uncountable nouns, I learnt news uncountable ones, and I tried to mobilize them in this writing exercice.

By the way, I like the idea of writing a letter. I chose my friend Martin from Slovakia. Martin will not be here befor tomorrow evening. I hope this letter will be a nice surprise from him.

Dear Martin,

I hope you are well and you are having good time in your nature trip.

You must be enjoying  snow and skiing , it was a good idea to go there and breath some pur air.

Here in Kénitra, we had rain yesterday, today it’s freezing cold, but I could see the sun from my window room. I’m sending you by the way some sunshine with this letter.

Martin, I’m not good at expressing feelings and writing beautiful things  and everything. You know me. I just want you to know how much our friendship means to me, and how much I appreciate your politeness, sincerity,  and optimism.

You are one of my first MyEC friends. You helped me a lot with my English, especially in our first conversations where I had understunding and writing difficulties. I’m very grateful to you.

Talking about our first conversations, I remember when  we first met, we talked about different subjects, shed books, songs and funny videos. We discovered our similarities and also our differences. That made our complicity  grow.

I’m fascinated by Slovakia beauty, and you, by Moroccan sun.  And as we  both do Business studies, it was a great idea from you to think about running a Tourism company, in our imagination. It’s always interesting to discuss with you, you have a good Marketing knowledge.

I miss talking with you while your absence. My holidays will end soon, and I’m having some rest at home. Today I cooked. I  didn’t burn the sauce like I did last time. But, I think I abused using salt... My dad, after tasting my dish, dranke a big glass of water and said « It was delicious »He is always here to encourage me.

Yesterday, I met my old highschool classmates. It was great to see them again. We had lunch together, and we talked about football. I learnt new things about soccer game. I will feel less silly while watching matches.

And I think I will go to Casablanca to buy my ticket for Oum concert in Jazzablanca festival, you know how much I love this beautiful Moroccan singer, I will finally see her ! In the same day there will also be an art exposition about Jazz and initiation workshops. Jazz music always intrigued me. It would be fun if we go together !

Together we dreamed of doing many things, like visiting each other.  Slovakia is in my futur travels list ! You will take me to see bears and  wonder of castels in your country.   And if you remember, we made an agreement : You will teach me how to dance Slovak traditional dances, and I will teach you how to ride a camel in Mogador sea, and Marrakech oasis. You always tell me that weather is very hot for you  in Morocco, but if you come, I will give you my « biiig »  Senegalese T-shirt that I showed you once. We can also eat some ice cream.  I’m a bad cook, but I can prepar it very well.  if I make a mess we can buy it at least.

I was lucky to find such a great friend here. You deserve all the best in life, Martin. I hope one day our little dreams will come true, and I hope to see you again very soon.

Sending you lots of hugs from Morocco

& Keep Smiling !

Ilham .

« Dogs give their human companions unconditional love and are always there with an encouraging wag of the tail when they are needed. The dog is indeed a very special animal. »

Dorothy Hinshaw Patent, Dogs: The Wolf Within

Let’s talk about dogs  as domestic animals, and companions.
I’m always impressed and touched by dogs loyalty,  especially with their old, handicaped or blind companions.
Of course, there are some people who abuse on spending money for luxurious conditions for their dogs while there are crises, hunger and disparities in this world. Extrems are always bad. But, I believe that, whatever conditions, dogs are always faithful friends.

When I was a little girl,  I was dreaming of becoming veterinarian. I was addicted to  documentaries about animals and was imagining myself working as a zoologist nursing African Savanna animals.
I love animals, and I have a special love for dogs. Wherever I am, when I see little or big dogs, on the street, on the sea… I can’t stop myself of going to  fondle them and play with them, and to ask about the name, the age, the race, everything ! I become completely "gaga".

MyEC members always ask me about my big friend, on my profile picture. He’s name is Paco. As Viviana* proposed, I will tell you about him in this blog and share with you some of his photos.

I lost Paco last year.  He disapeared.

It was hard on first days, especially when I see his empty niche. I try to keep away bad thoughts, and I hope he is in a good  place.

I’m not going to dramatize or to write a sad blog… I have unforgettable  memories with this unforgettable friend.

Paco was full of energy, funny, smart and tender. When he was a baby, I took care of him, and protected him, "like a mom". When he became bigger, it was his turn to protect me, I could go out in the dark at night without any fears because he was with me.

We used to go for long, very long walks in the forest, and on the sea in weekends. He always waited for me, cuddled me in his own cute ways, and run to me when he felt me and heard my voice.

On the beach, he was attractive, all beautiful girls were crazy about him. Paco was  making boys so jaleaous, he was also interrunpting their football matches by following the ball and trying to catch it.

My little sister used to call him « Loco Paco ».

Paco put me so many times in embarasing situations.  One day,  he peed  on a handsome stranger's shoes *Woops* Another day,  he stole a young lady’s hat and started running and feinting me that I couldn't catch him. « It’s not time to play, Paco! » I appeared ridiculous thanks to him! He was so cute and adorable that he never made someone feel angry.

I miss him.

How about you?  what do you think about dogs? and do you have an animal companion? If not would you like to have one?

I want to share with you a movie, if you don’t know about it, I can say that it’s a Wonderful true story.

Thanks for reading

Again, please, I'll be waiting for your corrections =)

Thank you !

My first blog post… Finally !

Hello everyone!

It’s been almost half year that I joined this website, and this is the first time I write a blog.

I came here to learn and improve my english. I wasn’t an active member last months, because of less time. But, in the few times I visited MyEC, I met interesting and friendly members here, english learners and teachers. We had interesting discussions , and audio conversations on Skype.

I’m taking advantage of being in holidays to be more active. Well, I wanted to write a blog from a long time, and today I’m determinated to do it, but without no idea about the topic that I’ll talk about. I’m just writing spontaneously …

Okay, so, I think that I will tell you about my english level, about, if I can say it, my relation with this language.

I think that my english improved sisnce I joind MyEC.  I’m happy and very graceful for people who are helping me.
I started learning english when I was 14 years old and I had official english classes in high school, I had an experience a summer in an American center, with begining levels. After highschool,  I studied business english in a special way : We were doing translations from french to english, and from english to french. It was very enriching.
Now, in my actual studies, I don’t have english classes anymore. But english is still important for me and I want to keep on learning it, especially that I’m a person who loves meeting new people from other countries, and who dream to travel a lot …

I have a souvenir that came in my mind.

In April 2011, I went to James Blunt concert in Casablanca with my friend. We were there 6 hours befor the concert. That’s crazy but we could hear repetitions which made us more excited, and could be in the middle of the first row, just under Blunty's nose!

While waiting, two men came to ask us about some informations.  They came to the concert too, and they were extremly happy to see their compatriote. Befor they told us, I guessed from their french accent that they were British, they were trying hard to speak french. Their french was cute by the way. While my friend was showing to one of them where he can park his car, I was explaining to the second one that we didn't have the same entry, because they were going to be in terraces.

The thing that I regret, is that we exchanged just some english words. I explained and talked with them in french. I couldn’t speak english. And, I have to confess that I wasn't confident.

When I think about it, I say to myself that from now, with my improvements I can make an effort and speak.

When I like an english song, I used to look for translations, and to watch subtitled movies. Now that I learn english, I try to listen, undestund, to write and to talk. Even in my business studies, english is very useful, because in management and marketing,  there is  international english vocabulary.

I think that’s all for my first step in writing a blog. Thank you  for reading it!

Next time, I will write about other topics, I hope I’ll have more inspiration.

Please, any corrections will be welcome. Thanks in advance!

Ilham .
