In general have by itself follows the same rules as all other verbs when they are used with do. So we say in the negative I don't have a car. Or we ask the question do you have a car? Have got in my opinion has its origin in the present perfect so it acts more like that tense. I have got a car or I haven't got a car. But because the meaning of have and have got are now so close, we often mix them together. I can say have you got a car and you can answer no, I don't have one. I can ask do you have a car and you can answer no I haven't got one. Is it good English or accurate English to do this? Not really, but customarily we do mix the two because they mean the same thing. I hope this answers your question.

Hello, generous Bill. How are you? Still struggling with learners problems as I see!I was discussing the use of have and have got with a friend and she told me that some colligues use the negative form of have and have got by haven't but neglect don't and doesn't have.But in my opinion the negative form depends on the verb used in the sentence I mean if have the negative form is with to do but if have got it is with to have what do you think BILL!

sorry for being late to reply... the problem is english in our country is still a foreign language so the people seldom use it for communication. so it's so difficult for me to teach them

Thank you so much , I agree with you all. The fastest method to improve english or any languages is immersed into a society that speaks English and use it everyday. We need time, effort and patience.
Its difficult for me to pronounce correctly. Some new words I look up the dictionary and I speak after them, but some "old words" I knew I pronounce not exactly. I don't want to blame at my teachers but I think they did not care about or impossible care about every students. Therefore, in my class , it was only 2 - 3 students pronounce correctly. Especially, mark the stress in sentences really difficulty, I am very bad in this field. Because of my voice, I do not know where is raise and where is fall. :(
For grammar, I did a little amount of exercises so I forgot it quickly. Today, when I meet some people who speak English very excellent, I wish I could be one of them. Thank you so much again, I really need your help, I do not know how and where I should start ? Go abroad - it's impossible ; find an nagetive english teacher in my city - my financial is not enough. Therefore, I sincere expect your advices.
