Dear Bev! I am so sorry about the damages of your property. Your house doesn't look good at all in your pictures. But how come there was the snowstorm in California? I remember spending Christmas holidays in L.A. and it was really warm and sunny. We even went to the beach and swam. I lived in the Deep South, in Gulfport, MS and, partly, in Florida but according to the weather forecast, it was always warmer (in winter) or hotter (in summer) in California. I just can't imagine Frisco or L.A. covered with the snow! What is going on with our planet?

Well, I have to apologize. I don't know why I decided you were a Canadian :). Perhaps, because I read you speak French:)! I feel a little bit confused. Excuse me, please. I should have been more attentive!

Thanks for your compliment about my English. My written English is not bad indeed for I have been teaching grammar and translating for many years. My American husband who is very well educated, together with his well-educated friends could never understand why my grammar is better than his :). But I am not a native speaker anyway and sometimes I have problems explaining the difference between some words or something like that. I feel it, so to say because I lived among Americans for rather long but to feel and to explain are different things. I am very responsible when I teach. So, if I am not 100% sure, I prefer to ask. I hope, you don't mind answering my questions from time to time. I promis, I will not be bothering:)

Dear Bev! I am really glad to hear from you at last! It is so great you have been here but it was the wrong time, so to say. At the end of 80's the USSR was about to collapse. Everything is very different here now. Ukraine is rather well developed country. What bothers us is our mentality. I lived in the USA for about 10 years so I do know what I mean! I was in Canada, in Toronto, Ottava, Montreal, Niagara Falls and I know many Canadians in person. I like America and consider US as my second motherland. I still have American citizenship and some property in Florida and I am thinking about moving there when I retire. But now I live in Kiev and I teach English. So,

'd like to be in touch with some native English teachers just to be given some advices from time to time. Hope, you don't mind. Certainly, you can ask me any questions about my country and whatever you like. I'd also like to know more about Canada.

Yes, Belgium is a very expensive country to travel in, but also to live in. Euros change everything and thought our governement says euros didn't increase the prices we all feel it's a big lie !!!

You're right Baku is the capital of Azerbaijan, and It Muslim country. I've also visited Iran in 1991-1992. It's pitty that you haven't visited Azerbaijan yet. Of course, Azedrbaijan has a lot buildings of Islamic architecture. For example, "Teze Pir Mesjidi (mosque)", "Bibi-Heybet Mesjidi" etc. Now there're lots of modern buildings in our country. I'll be very happy if I see you in our country. I hope you'll come.
