Dear friends! Today I would like to tell you about Kenny Chesney, one of the greatest modern country music singers and songwriters. Kenny is originally from Tennessee, one of the Southern states, the cradle of country music if I can say so. He has recorded 15 albums and most of them were certified gold or platinum. More than 25 of his singles are number 1 on the U.S. Billboard of Country Songs. He is so very famous and popular! The house is always full at all his concerts wherever they are held. Kenny is an easy going artist. He doesn't need any luxuries concert halls. He can perfom right on the beach or somewhere like that. He, too, sings traditional country, but, at the same time, some of his songs may be considered as pop, rock or even honky tonk as he started his carreer at the honky tonk bar. Being inordinary personality Kenny Chesney remains just an average American guy in his songs and on the stage. I tried to choose a few of his songs in different styles for you to get an idea about his music in general. However, I'd like to add, whatever those songs are about, they are always positive. Country music is national music and is like a mirror of soul, it reflects our sorrows, hopes and dreams. Just listen and enjoy!

Wild Child

Looks like royal in a thrift store dress

Keeps my heart and her hair a mess

She goes where the wind suggests she goes, who knows

Got a spirit that can't be tamed

She's a calico pony on an open flame

I know I'll never be the same no more, for sure

She's a wild child

Got a rebel soul with a whole lot of gypsy wild style

She can't be tied down but for a while

I'll be falling free and so in love

Might break my heart but God she drives me wild child

You've never heard of her favorite band unless you

Been to Bonnaroo or Burning Man

She's Penny Lane in a Chevy van, she loves to love

She loves me, a wild child

Got a rebel soul with a whole lot of gypsy wild style

She can't be tied down but for a while

I'll be falling free and so in love

Might break my heart but God she drives me wild child

She'll be here until she runs

Some just have to chase the sun

She's a wild child

Got a rebel soul with a whole lot of gypsy wild style

She can't be tied down but for a while

I'll be falling free and so in love

Might break my heart but God she drives me wild child

A kaleidoscope of colors in her mind shines

A touch of crazy hides behind her wild smile

So simple yet experimental

Innocent but still a little wild child

Wild child

When the sun goes down (Welcome to Hawaii!)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eGLdbpmXrbQ

Sun tanned toes ticklin the sand
Cold drink chillin in my right hand
Watchin you sleep in the evening light
Restin up for a long, long night

[Chorus:]
Cause when the sun goes down, we'll be groovin
When the sun goes down, we'll be feelin all right
When the sun sinks down over the water
Everything gets hotter when the sun goes down

All day long just takin it easy
Layin in the hammock where it's nice and breezy
Sleepin off the night before
Cause when the sun goes down, we'll be back for more

[Chorus:]
When the sun goes down, we'll be groovin
When the sun goes down,we'll be feeling alright
When the sun sinks down over the water
Everything gets hotter when the sun goes down

This old guitar and my dark sunglasses
This sweet concoction is smooth as molasses
Nothing to do but breathe all day
Until the big moon rises and it's time to play

[Repeat chorus]

"Jack and Diane" painted a picture of my life and my dreams,
Suddenly this crazy world made more sense to me
Well I heard it today and I couldn't help but sing along
Cause everytime I hear that song...

I go back to a two toned short bed Chevy
Drivin my first love out to the levvy
Livin life with no sense of time
And I go back to the feel of a fifty yard line
A blanket, a girl, some raspberry wine
Wishin time would stop right in its tracks
Everytime I hear that song, I go back

I used to rock all night long to "Keep On Rockin Me Baby"
Frat parties, college bars, just tryin to impress the ladies
I heard it today and I couldn't help but sing along
Cause everytime I hear that song....

I go back to the smell of an old gym floor
The taste of salt on the Carolina shore
After graduation and drinkin goodbye to friends
And I go back to watchin summer fade to fall
Growin up too fast and I do recall
Wishin time would stop right in its tracks
Everytime I hear that song, I go back, I go back

We all have a song that somehow stamped our lives
Takes us to another place and time

So I go back to a pew, preacher, and a choir
Singin bout God, brimstone, and fire
And the smell of Sunday chicken after church
And I go back to the loss of a real good friend
And the sixteen summers I shared with him
Now "Only The Good Die Young" stops me in my tracks
Everytime I hear that song,

I go back....
To the feel of a fifty yard line
A blanket, a girl, some raspberry wine
I go back....
To watchin summer fade to fall
Growin up too fast and I do recall...
I go back....
To the loss of a real good friend
And the sixteen summers I shared with him...
I go back... I go back... I go back

  • Dear Tina! Thank you so very much for your reply! You are right, good art is always good and doesn't need any approvement, either you accept it or not. Kenny is a great singer, I am happy you like his music

  • thanks for your sharing , although i did not understand all what he sung, but the real music is when it touch our heart, and it likes a mirror of soul as you wrote, one more time thanks you, :) i am young , it not mean i do not love country music, :)

  • Hi, Elena! I know those singers, both are very good. And I am glad you like  Kenny Chesney. Thanks for your nice comment

  • Hello Tanya, how are you? I like country music and I didn't know Kenney Chesney. When I was a student, I approched country musicians like John Denver and James Taylor. Do you know them? Anyway, very good music! Besides the karaoke is really amusing.

  • Sure!

  • I have no idea what I would do if I lost it all again!

    • You will not, my word!

  • Darling! You are my wild child!

  • Dear ModaWay! What a great job! In fact, you added a long karaoke playlist! Thank you, my friend! Why not to start a new discussion with all those karaoke songs? I am afraid, EC members read the beginning of any discussion in the best case! I would like them to sing together with famous artists. How do you like this idea?

  • I hope, one day you will sing country for us, dear friend!
