My friends! I am new in EC, but I'd like to take part in this discussion as I know American music well enough and have a lot to tell you about it. It is my understanding that music unites even better that language. So, I'd like to tell  about one of the most inordinary country singers who has ever walked our sinful land. It is Dwight Yoakam. Contrary to most of country singers, he is from Connecticute, the North East part of America, that has always been considered to be one of the most developed, modern, intelligent parts of the USA. Country music is music of the South, in fact. Dwight is famous for combining pop, fank, rock, honky tonk with country music and we got so called "urban cowboy" music as a result. Being young he looked like that: such a dude from a big city who put on a  cowboy's hat! But he has always sounded right!  later on, he, himself, called his music "Hillbilly". His idea was easy to understand: he wanted young peope to remember their origin, their roots, not to forget anything important. Dwight  is aslo famous  as a composer, songwriter, movie and TV actor and producer. But back to music. His voice is almost counter-tenor, but on great range and he does know how to use it. Just listen to how he sings! It is amazing! I wish I could sing like that! His scrips are not usual for country music, but it makes his songs even better. Well, listen to his great music! I will give a few links if it is not out of the rules of this discussion. Hope, it is not.

"Thinking about Leaving"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BlYvYRfhUUI

Script:

I used to think love was the soft rope meant to tie me down
And all that could ever own me was a guitar and another town
Ten years can disappear real fast
When every morning just leaves somewhere else behind
But I've been thinking about leaving long enough to change my mind

Lyin' here beside you I can feel it start to pull me away
The thought I'll have again tomorrow that just came back from yesterday
But your embrace makes any reason for those memories hard to find
And I've been thinking about leaving long enough to change my mind

Sometimes I miss the warm, bright lights sometimes I miss the crowds
Sometimes I miss the women I wrapped each song around
Sometimes I miss that world out there so empty hard and unkind
But I've been thinking about leaving long enough to change my mind

Sometimes I miss the warm, bright lights sometimes I miss the noise
Sometimes I miss the fading sounds of every cheering voice
Sometimes I miss that world out there so empty hard and unkind
But I've been thinking about leaving long enough to change my mind

And I've been thinking about leaving long enough to change my mind

"Back of your hand"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N41CTsj2iN0

Script:

when you give it up for gone
but you're still digging in the mind
and you're staring out the window
saying everything will be just fine
keeping with whole affair
every word seems out of line
no matter what angle you get
its polished till it shines

(chorus)

take a guess at where I stand
pick a number one to two
take a look at the back of your hand
just like you know it
you know me too

and when you say who the hell am I living with
what just went down
where did this come from
why are all my colors faded brown
when did it change
what’s with the rage
who’s the dude with the extra role
what’s the verse, the line, the chapter, the page

(chorus)

take a guess at where I stand
pick a number one to two
take a look at the back of your hand
just like you know it
you know me too

you think you're alone without any place left to go
like you need one of those kisses long and slow
first glance is not what it seems
but there's some things I just know
like you take two sugars with a splash of cream

you take a guess at where I stand
oh pick a number one to two
then take a look
back of your hand
just like you know it
you know me too
yeah like you know it
you know me too
just like you know it
you know me too

"Nothing"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UeuRMOkaohY

I couldn't change your heart
I couldn't change your mind
So I just had to learn to live with
This empty life you left behind

You didn't try to hear
You didn't try to see
No you just stared right through the teardrops
Like there was nothing left of me

Nothing but sorrow, nothing but pain
Nothing but memories that whisper your name
Nothing but sadness, nothing but fear
Nothing but silence is heard around here

Bridges were burned, oh
Lessons were learned
Promises made that were broken
Tender lies so softly spoken

You didn't try to hear
You didn't try to see
You just stared right through the teardrops
Like there was nothing left of me

Nothing but sorrow, nothing but pain
Nothing but memories that whisper your name, hey
Nothing but sadness, nothing but fear
Nothing but silence is heard around here, heard around here

Nothing but sorrow, nothing but pain
No, nothing but memories that whisper your name, whisper your name
Nothing but sadness, nothing but fear
Nothing but silence is heard around here, heard around here

I couldn't change your heart

Just get  a feel of our American cowboys, will you? (Smile). Good music is always good everywhere!
