Adel. Someone Like You - My cover

Dear friends! First of all, for you all not to be surprised or confused I have to say the truth or nothing, agree? The truth is that being a child and a teen, I was taught music and singing for many years. And I have been practicing it all my life although I am not a professional singer. I am a professional university teacher of chemistry and physics, I am a scholar, but I love music and can't do without it. I started performing on the stage being a schoolboy. I went on singing serving in the Army, studying at the university and when I got my degree, moved to Florida and started teaching students here, I was about 30 and wanted to make friends with them as I was new and felt like that. That time I was just a little older than my students and it was easy to do. We had same believes, same values, we were of the same generation. So, I tried to unite singing/playing students in a band and we made it. We sang Beatles, John Lennon's "Imagine" and other songs calling the world to stop wars and to look around. We were hippies, free world, free love, if you know what it was. I've still saved some of those ideas and that band, although the artists are different. We have only a few songs recorded professionally and i'd like to present you one of them. But I have to say I have never had any idea either to offend anyone or to brag here or anything like that. I have been already accused of being American born, of being white, of being married to a Ukrainian woman. I don't want to be accused of singing country and playing the piano and the guitar. People, let's live in peace! Music should unite!

I dedicated this song to the only one woman I've truly loved. It should be sung from the bottom of the heart.

Here is the script:

I heard that you’re settled down
That you found a boy and you’re married now
I heard that your dreams came true
Guess he gave you things I didn’t give to you
Old friend, why are you so shy?
Ain’t like you to hold back or hide from the light

I hate to turn up out of the blue uninvited
But I couldn’t stay away, I couldn’t fight it
I hoped you’d see my face
And that you’d be reminded that for me it isn’t over

Never mind, I’ll find someone like you
I wish nothing but the best for you too
Don’t forget me, I beg
I remember you said
Sometimes it lasts in love
But sometimes it hurts instead
Sometimes it lasts in love
But sometimes it hurts instead

You know how the time flies
Only yesterday was the time of our lives
We were born and raised in a summer haze
Bound by the surprise of our glory days

I hate to turn up out of the blue uninvited
But I couldn’t stay away, I couldn’t fight it
I had hoped you’d see my face
And that you’d be reminded that for me it isn’t over

Never mind, I’ll find someone like you
I wish nothing but the best for you too
Don’t forget me, I beg
I remember you said
Sometimes it lasts in love
But sometimes it hurts instead

Nothing compares
No worries or cares
Regrets and mistakes, they’re memories made
Who would have known how bittersweet this would taste?

Never mind, I’ll find someone like you
I wish nothing but the best for you
Don’t forget me, I beg
I remember you said
Sometimes it lasts in love
But sometimes it hurts instead

Never mind, I’ll find someone like you
I wish nothing but the best for you, too
Don’t forget me, I beg,
I remember you said,
Sometimes it lasts in love
But sometimes it hurts instead
Sometimes it lasts in love
But sometimes it hurts instead

I'd like all women of EC to hear this song for them to know there are still some knights, some gentlemen who will not let you down, who are always ready to support you and to be by your side!

  • Thanks, dear!

  • "You Rock" wow! you have an amazing voice!

  • Dear Luci! Thank you very much! You see, I have never had any desire to become a professional singer. I am a peaceful man and the world of show business is too wild and violent for me. Although the scientific world is not very friendly or peaceful, either we are not used to killing each other for achieving any results or gettting grants or teaching more students.  My field is sciense and teaching and trust me, it is better to be a mediorate scholar than to be a mediorate singer! Anyway, like any artist who has ever performed in public, I am happy you like my singing. Honestly, I have always sung for ladies! Thank you, dear!

    • Well..never say never, Danny! However, I agree that show business is only for those who can bear kinda big pressure, so enjoy your calm life with physics and chemistry (two subjects plus math I hated a lot) and don't hesitate to sing more for us :)
    • Dear, I am so sorry you hate natural sciense! What a pity! If there were no natural sciense we would sill think the Earth is plane.

As a mattter of fact I posted one more song here sung with my band, but you seem not to have noticed it. It is Billy Joel's "My Life".

      Thanks for your comment, dear!

  • Wooow! Awesome, love it! You should change your job! Can picturize you in American Idol :D
  • Thank you, dear Ann! My pleasure!

  • Wow you sang like a real singer! Amazing!

  • My dear ladies, Elena, Tulip! Thank you so very much! I am happy you like my singing as I sing mostly for ladies to assure them we, men, are still here and we are still men. Despite spending most of our time at work or before computer screens, we have remainded romantic, loving, carring, sensitive and much more. I hope, my songs will also remind some men of something very important they have really forgotten! Always to your service, ladies! (BIG SMILE!)

  • Woww...Amazing voice, Love it so much! Love the music, the song and the voice. You are a great singer, Dan!
