  • Dear Faisal! If you don't know a word, the best way is to look up the dictionary. There are always some letters marking this or that part of speech: v. is a werb; adj. is an adjective and so on. Besides, in many cases you call tell the difference by sufficses. (it is very good to know them). However, if there is a sentence, the place of the word in the sentence tells you what part of speech it is.

  • Thank you for your explanation. I got the idea regarding tag questions
  • Shall we read the lesson?
    Is that what you need!
  • The right tag is:

    shall not we?

I'd like to explain about tag questions. In the tag question we use the auxiliary verb of the tense used in the main clause. If the main clause is negative, there shouldn't be "not" in the tag question. If there is a modal verb, the same verb will be in the tag question. For example:

    You are tired, aren't you?
    You live here, don't you?
He hasn't bought a car yet, has he?
    You can drive, can't you?
You should have done that, shouldn't you?
She had to do that, didn't she?

    and so on.

If something is not clear, feel free to ask.
