Learning English from diseases

There are many a words that i have learned from my medical profession, i wanna share a few of those with u

LEONINE  = resembling lion ; i learned this while i was reading LEPROSY ( leonine face )

BOVINE = cow ;  the bovine tuberculosis ( it spreads from cows milk )

i was not knowing what " REDCURRANT JELLY " is until i read INTUSSUSCEPTION ( intestinal obstruction )

The combined tendon of gastrocnemius and soleus (calf muscles ) is known as ACHILLES TENDON , it made me wondering until i watched the hollywood  movie " TROY "

It was while i was studying ATROPINE when i came across this mnemonic about the physiological manifestations of its overdose ; "hot as a hare, blind as a bat, dry as a bone, red as a beet, and mad as a hatter"

And i found out how exactly the strawberries look like  when saw the tongue of a patient with SCARLET  Fever.

there are many more terminologies that we have in medical book that also help u in improving our english vocabulary , i will keep you updating as i will come across others.

if anyone of u do know some , fell free to share
