  • Teacher Tanya,

I understand that Oxford says so in the sense of humor. I'm so glad to have a wise teacher like you. You understand my opinion from my view. Let me hug you, Ma'am.... ^_^

My dear people, Onee, Mishaikh!  I respect you both so very much but what are you doing? ANY English word is not worth fighting! Mishaikh, you, yourself, said that EC is like a Universe and it is right. I can say even more: we, EC members, are those who want the mankind to live in peace and understanding and we can make it if we stop quarelling because of some misunderstandings related to language. So, let me be a kind of a peacemaker here.

My friends, you both are right and both are wrong.

Onee, dear, you are right that having a car, especially a chauffeured one  is a luxury in many countries. On the other hand, if kids (or a wife, or other members of the family) are chauffeured to school (or somewhere esle), it may be either joke (like Danny explained) or it may also mean that they were taken there by a chauffeur, a person who is employed by their parents to drive their own car. For you understand the difference, I will tell you that we employ a guy who is a caretaker, in fact. He takes care of the house, pets, garden, repairments and so on. We sometimes ask him to drive us, especially when we go to the airport leaving our area, but he is not our chauffeur and he doesn't chaufeur us, just take us to the place of destination.

Mishaikh, you are right, too. Having a car is just a MUST in America. There is some public transport in the big cities, but there is none in the small towns like ours. If people don't have cars, they will not be able to to get to work, will not find jobs and will not be able to provide for living. Each member of a family has a car. It may be a used cheap car, but it is personal. But living in other countries having a car may sound like luxury. And Onee is a lady!

To summarize what I have just said, there is no need to argue is such cases. You both are right and wrong and don't forget that EC is "A Universe". We should live in peace and clarify all misundersatndings in the most peaceful way.

  • Honorable Mishaikh, :)

I'm sorry I never meant to agree with you in this discussion. My last comment was my RESPECT to you, I meant I consider it as grey in your view, but not mine. My explanation about luxury is much and clear with data, not just my own opinion, and you didn't even mind that. I'm just begging you to see the life in all over the world, please open your eyes.

I always think of my respect to others whenever I discuss something, in real life or here. Even to my students, I never say something bad, moreover about the students. I also ALWAYS say sorry to students IF I make mistakes. I don't follow the rule that the older is always the right.

Saying 'Bad student' is out of my jokes. Although you said that, I still have my respect to you. I hope you won't say that anymore to the others in here or real life. Thanks a million for participating in this discussion. :))

Btw, I hope you remember who the most stubborn person was in Lady Noor's discussion. :))))

Instead of arguing, just accept that your question was ambiguous (uncleared). Two teachers are explaining you a simple point and you are arguing like a stubborn student. Bad student.....LOL

Mishaikh, if you get such grey hints next time..... I hope you will be sharper to find the rift, instead of complaining....

That makes the game fun, anyway. :))

Please don't get angry with me... Thank you with smilessss... :))))
