My Word is an Uncountable Noun

Hi, my dear friends! Although Danny and I had given each other a word not to use any computers during our wonderful rest in the mountains, he managed to break his promis as he can't survive without the internet. Well, being a true gentleman he won the game for me, he is forgiven and even rewarded and he will go on bothering everyone in the EC. Ha-ha-ha!

Well, let's get down to our business.

My word is an uncountable noun and I am giving you two first clues.

1. The word relates to industry.

2. The word itself and its relative words (the words with the same root) are used in natural science.

I am adding the clues basing on your questions.

3. The field of industry relates to farming in this or that way.

4. It is not a thing/object.

5. It is a chemical process.

6. The word starts with "D".

So, I am waiting for your YES/NO questions. Let's start!

  • My friends! Now I see that Tanya promised I would explain all proposed words. Well, there you go!

DEAERATION is a process of removing dissolved air from some substance.

HYDROLYSIS is the chemical breakdown of a compound due to reaction with water.

GLYCERALDEHYDE is  a carbohydrate with three carbon units.

If I have missed some words, just tell me, OK?

  • Dear Mary! Let me comment that. In America we say THE PROHIBITION. Of course, it means "Dry Law". I know Russians/Ukrainians say the same about the end of 80s' in their countries when their President Sergey Gorbachov tried to prevent people from drinking although it was not like in America. It is my understanding that such attempts of American and Russian governments were the greatest political mistakes as the forbidden fruit is always the sweetest. Remember Eve?

Oh!!! I missed another game!!! Guys, why are you playing so fast lately?? Are you trying to break the fastest 'guess my word' record or something like that?? :D

Tanya, thanks for taking some time of your holidays for hosting a game. For some weird reason, the first thing that comes to my mind with the word 'distillation' is an old W/B American movie settled in the Prohibition times. Movies can be also very helpful for learning stuff sometimes!

Btw, we usually translate in Spanish language The Prohibition era as 'the dry law times'... It can be also called like that in English?

    nida, CONGRATULATIONS!!!! ^_^
I hope to be on time for playing your game!

Hi, my dear friends! Although Danny and I had given each other a word not to use any computers during our wonderful rest in the mountains, he managed…
  • Hi, my friends! We arrived in Kiev a few hours ago and Tanya decided to sleep a little as she can't sleep on the train. So, let me comment for her.

First, let me congratulate Nida! I am so pleased it is a lady who won this game. I thought it would be either Estanis or Mishaikh, but Tanya said "I bet, it will be a lady". So, we bet a 100$ and she won!

Then, the word DISTILLATION doesn't relate to religion in any way, it is a chemical/physical term. In the general sense it is the action of purifying a liquid by a process of heating and cooling. On the other hand, it is the main process of getting alcohol from some organic substance, the keystone of the alcoholic beverage industry. Controlling the distillation process we can get different percentage of spirits in liquid, from 11 (dry wines) to almost 100% (medical spirits). For you to know, a plant manufacturing hard drinks is called DISTILLERY. So, by mentioning religions, Tanya wanted to give you a great hint as you didn't react to her hint about her origion and place of residence (She said "I am European living in America"). In fact, she meant our habits as it is well-known that Europeans, Americans and other christian people like alcohol in comparison with Islamic people who don't drink at all. I'd like to believe, we didn't offend anyone. And I have to confess that DISTILLATION was my idea as we visited a great winery last week, saw all the process of making wine and were able to try many famous brands.

Now, I'd like to say a few words about the game. Honestly, we didn't expect it to end so soon as the word was not easy. On the other hand, Tanya replied immediately and you were very active.

Thank you all! We are just happy to have such great friends and students!

And here are my best wishes on the weekend with the output products of distillation!Ha-ha-ha!

Well done, Wow! You are the next host, dear! ^_^

I'm sure you can do it well.

    Teacher TANYA.......,

Really wish to join your game next time...hiks. It's just TOO fast. ha...ha...

  • stock-vector-shocked-sad-emoji-smiley-emoticon-377321629.jpgThe game is over.... even before I start to comment. :(( :D

    "DISTILLATION"

It is a separation process based on boiling point. But, somehow I was confused if it is related to religion. I think it has some other examples, not only in winery.

  • Thank you, SNR, Noaslpls, Misahikh and Tanya!

I won because Tanya gave so many clues. :)

Anyways, I enjoyed playing the game a lot and I'm so happy that I'm the winner(despite knowing the fact I'm not a genuine or real winner. :D)!

  • My friends! I will ask Danny to explain you my and other words as he is a chemist.

  • Thank you, dear Noas! In fact, there is no such sin in Bible. I'd like to say at once that i am non-religious. I wash my hands like Pilate.

  • I am really sorry this game was over so soon. But tonight we are leaving the place we are staying at  and will have to cross the hemisphere to get home. But Dan is a true gentleman and being his lady I couldn't let him down.

I hope one one is disappered
