Tenses

Hello. As far as I know, there are some words which can't not be in continuous form such as like, love, hate, miss... But in some songs they are still used.
Examples:
-I'm still loving you - Scorpion (If I'm not mistaken)
-I'll be missing you - Puff Daddy

Why is so? Is it because they are used in art and show biz field? Can show biz get rid of the grammar rules? Thank you.

    • My apology Spring, but I feel something needs to be correct here.

2- She is visiting the doctor today.

In that case, you visit the doctor for treatment. You don't go doctor to see him/her. In other case you take an appointment to visit the doctor. You have to be formal with doctor.

You done a good work. I'm thanking you to be take part in this discussion. We are here to be learn and let learn in any case. Knowledge is sharing and it increases by this only.

    • Sandeep. It's common to replace "visit" with "see" in this case. Even, I find the latter more often than the former.

    • Finally there's a comment! I have already thought that people here don't like grammar. Thank you, Spring. :D Well, okay. I can conclude that the sentences in my examples are wrong. They shouldn't use them. Am I right?

*Oh, there's a typo on my post. It should be "Can't be" (without "not")

  • I remember there was a native English teacher chatting on main room. She was using the word Spring mentioned: seeing. And other members protested her. I just read an interesting book last night: English Grammar for Dummies.

On the book, it's explain three English grammar types: Conversational English, Friendspeaks English and Formal English. I guess the sentence like: "She is seeing a doctor today" or song titles on your examples both are used on Conversational English, which is still using standard grammar rules, but it breaks some rules.

    • Yeah, it could be. They can't be used in formal English or in a test.

    • We definitely can't use friendspeaks and conversational English in formal environment except if we want to be considered as uneducated people or have bad marks, lol.
